2 Members down on their luck are looking to you for help Can you provide your members with the financial counseling they need? It seems like only yesterday we were talking to members about financial planning services and investments. But today credit unions are scrambling to meet the needs of those hit hard by the tough economic times. Financial counseling has become a critical service to members and it s an approach that requires: New skills. You need to understand the complexities of late payments, maxed out credit cards, shattered credit and find ways to deliver solutions. New partners. You must think outside your credit union and access community resources. The burden on you is to find the right ones and work with them. New approaches. You must take a fundamentally different approach to financial counseling. It requires being able to evaluate your members value systems and how they regard money. Who Should Attend? This program is designed for staff at your credit union who work in the financial counseling department, the collection department, the loan department, as well as other staff within your credit union that are committed to helping members gain control of their financial future. This program will provide your credit union with the knowledge and skills needed to work with a member who has financial problems, assisting them in solving and preventing future financial problems. There is much to learn, but one constant remains in place: Credit unions are still about people helping people. With CUNA Certified Financial Counselor Schools, you ll gain the strategic skills necessary to remain true to your credit union s mission.
