Wayne Gretzky An animated version of a short story by Roch Carrier, who narrates this tale based on his boyhood experiences in rural Quebec. It s 1969, and Don Messer s band is on a cross-canada farewell tour, packing them in from Halifax to Whitehorse. Don Messer was a folk icon, idolized by millions of fans. Mr. Leonard Cohen This DVD for Cohen fans features the 1965 video Ladies and Gentlemen Mr. Leonard Cohen, an informal black-and-white portrait of the Montreal poet, novelist and songwriter in his youth. Alanis Obomsawin casts her cinematic nets into history to provide a context for the events on Miramichi Bay, offering compelling insight into the relationship between Canada and its First Nations. (96 min) A 2002 production. My Father, My Teacher Inuvialuit filmmaker Dennis Allen explores his relationship with his father. Unlike the elder Allen, Dennis grew up during the period of residential schools and the reform of traditional culture. The result was a loss of identity and a struggle with addiction.
