Wayne Gretzky An animated version of a short story by Roch Carrier, who narrates this tale based on his boyhood experiences in rural Quebec. It s 1969, and Don Messer s band is on a cross-canada farewell tour, packing them in from Halifax to Whitehorse. Don Messer was a folk icon, idolized by millions of fans. Montreal Gazette This 2-disc DVD consists of three films highlighting the music of Louisiana, with a particular focus on the unique French-speaking culture of the region. Some subtitles. Tracing the history of the Maroons, the runaway slaves from whom the Creoles inherited their spirit of resistance, this vibrant travelogue reveals a community that transcended its suffering through music. Through their eyes, we see how this world has influenced their values, career ambitions and their concepts of beauty and self-image. Mr. Leonard Cohen This DVD for Cohen fans features the 1965 video Ladies and Gentlemen Mr. Leonard Cohen, an informal black-and-white portrait of the Montreal poet, novelist and songwriter in his youth. We see him reading poetry to a rapt audience and also alone, or relaxing with family and friends. The bonus features include four short films: I m Your Man, Poen, A Kite Is a Victim and Angel.
