4 MISSION! Section 1 General Information Central Christian College of the Bible exists to develop servant-leaders for the church. As a traditional undergraduate Bible college, Central equips men and women for leadership in the kingdom of God both nationally and internationally. Central seeks spiritually-minded students who actively participate in their local congregations, have the intellectual ability to study at the college level, and desire to become equipped with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills for vocational and volunteer church leadership positions. Central provides degrees and certificates that equip students with a Biblecentered higher education within the context of a Christian worldview and helps students become productive, contributing members of their communities. Affiliated with the Restoration Movement, Central seeks to graduate faithful servant-leaders distinguished by authentic Christian character, who have the ability to communicate the Gospel effectively and become disciple-makers worldwide. This mission obeys the biblical mandates of 2 Timothy 2:2, Pass on what you heard from me to reliable leaders who are competent to teach others [The Message] and Matthew 28:19, Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations. [NASB] VISION Our vision is for the servant-leaders we produce to be dedicated disciples who know God s word and serve His kingdom. The vision includes enrolling students who display dedication in their walk with Christ. Our work helps them develop in their discipleship while they are enrolled to prepare for a lifetime of dedication to Christ. Regarding God s word, our students will thirst for biblical truth, trust in its inspired authority, and train others to understand it. They serve the kingdom through ministry careers, volunteer capacities, and vocational contexts. These are the key areas where we work to develop servant-leaders. 5 4 Central Christian College of the Bible Section 1 - General Information HISTORY Central Christian College of the Bible was founded in February of 1957, when the board of directors, led by chairman O. S. Lincoln, unanimously declared and affirmed that the purpose of the school is to recruit and train leadership for the church at large according to the New Testament teaching. Central remains exclusively committed to pursuing this purpose. Through the years, growth has come in facilities, resources, and alumni. Graduates of Central Christian College of the Bible are serving across the nation and around the world. Central s impact has become not merely regional, but global. With the worldwide placement of Central s graduates, alumni are serving the Lord s kingdom in the uttermost parts of the earth. Several dedicated presidents have led the College in its history. John W. Hall ( ), a minister in Vandalia, Missouri, was charged with the task of setting the College in order. He selected the first faculty of five men, two of whom still teach for the College: Lloyd M. Pelfrey and Gareth Reese. Grayson H. Ensign ( ) made improvements in the administrative and bookkeeping procedures of the College. In addition, he was able to eliminate the first mortgage as well as purchase other property to provide room for expansion. Walter L. Jack Spratt ( ) led the College s acquisition of the current campus property. Several buildings were erected during that time, including a Cafetorium (a combined cafeteria, library, and assembly area) and dormitories, which also housed classrooms. Lloyd M. Pelfrey ( ) worked to eliminate the debts from construction. In 1980, Memorial Hall (later renamed Pelfrey Hall) was completed, which housed offices, classrooms, food services, and a gymnasium. Initial accreditation with the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges (now, The Association for Biblical Higher Education) was received in 1982, with reaffirmations in 1987 & Dr. Russell James ( ) led the College s transition to the Full-Tuition Scholarship with careful planning and successful fundraising. This contributed to a period of rapid growth, culminating in the highest enrollment in the institution s history. During his tenure, the facilities were renovated and expanded. ABHE accreditation was reaffirmed in Dr. Ron Oakes ( ) led the College s pursuit of regional accreditation, resulting in candidate status in Under his leadership, the Walton Student Center was constructed, online education was developed, and ABHE accreditation was reaffirmed in Dr. David Fincher (2014-present) served 12 years as Vice-President of Academics before being named President. A 1993 graduate of CCCB, he has focused on connecting with alumni, defining the institution s vision, and implementing a five-year strategic plan.

ABHE is recognized by the International Council for Evangelical Theological Education, the theological education affiliate of the World Evangelical Alliance. The Association s member institutions are recognized by the Department of Justice, the Veteran s Administration, and other relevant federal agencies in the United States. Central is a Candidate with the Higher Learning Commission 230 South LaSalle Street, Suite 7-500, Chicago, IL Phone (800) Website: ncahlc.org The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region. ABHE and HLC are both recognized by CHEA (Council for Higher Education Accreditation), the national accrediting organization that serves as an umbrella over all recognized accrediting bodies. APPROVAL Churches have indicated their approval of Central Christian College of the Bible by their support in financial gifts, by sending men and women to be trained for Christian service, and by employing Central alumni. As a result of being listed in the Directory of Higher Education, Central is approved by the Missouri Department of Higher Education for certification and distribution of veteran s benefits allowing veterans to receive all the benefits they have earned by serving our country. Because Central is a United States Department of Education approved institution, Central students are eligible for participation in Federal grant and loan programs. Central participates in the Pell Grant Program, the Work-Study Program, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program, the Academic Competitiveness Grant program, as well as the Federal Stafford Student and Parent PLUS Loan Programs.

8 Catalog 7 Section 1 - General Information Central is located in the north-central Missouri city of Moberly, the largest town in Randolph County, with a population of approximately 15,000. The community, located 90 miles south of Iowa on Highway 63 and 70 miles west of Illinois on Highway 24, provides a friendly atmosphere with numerous job opportunities. Other educational opportunities in the immediate area are provided by Moberly Area Community College and an extension campus of Columbia College. From 1957 to 1968 the campus was located east of downtown Moberly on Ault Street. In 1968 the College moved to its present campus in southeastern Moberly. The College s property is adjacent to Moberly Middle School, Moberly High School, and Zion Lutheran Church. To find the campus, take US Highway 63 to Moberly and exit at Urbandale Drive/Route M. Follow the signs one mile west and the campus is on the north side of the street at 911 E. Urbandale Drive. FACILITIES Central s campus features seven buildings and two outdoor athletic fields. Pelfrey Hall contains the dining hall, gymnasium, offices, and classrooms. The Reese Resource Center, completed in 2001, contains the library and bookstore. Lang Hall is the men s residence hall and Spurling Hall is the women s residence hall. North of Pelfrey Hall is the maintenance facility. Built in 2004, Mabee Foundation Hall houses both men and women on separate floors. The Walton Student Center opened in Fall 2010 to provide a place for Central s student body to fellowship and relax together. 9 8 Central Christian College of the Bible Section 1 - General Information THEOLOGICAL AFFIRMATIONS The Faculty of Central Christian College of the Bible ascribe to the following theological affirmations. Students are expected to be able to know the College s positions on these topics while coming to their own biblical conclusions. 1.! The one God (Yahweh) exists eternally in the three persons of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). 2.! Scripture is inspired, wholly without error in the original manuscripts, and the sole authority for the Christian s faith and practice (1 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21; John 10:35, 17:17; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13). 3.! All that exists was created by God; He made humanity in His own image (Genesis 1:1-27; Matthew 19:4). 4.! Adam and Eve s disobedience introduced sin and death to all mankind, who fall short of God s glory because of their own sin (Genesis 3:1-19; Romans 3:23; 5:12-14). 5.! Jesus Christ, God incarnate, was born of a virgin, tempted but without sin, fully human and fully divine (Philippians 2:5-11; John 1:1-15; Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:26-35; Heb 4:15). 6.! The atoning death of Christ on the cross and His bodily resurrection from the grave demonstrate God s love and provide forgiveness and eternal life (Romans 5:6-11, 1 Corinthians 15:3-11). 7.! By God s grace, salvation is available to all people, through personal faith in Christ, at the immersion of a penitent believer (Romans 3:21-25, 6:1-14; Galatians 3:26-29; Ephesians 2:8-10; Acts 2:38). 8.! The Holy Spirit inspired the authors of Scripture and miraculously empowered apostles and prophets to be the foundation of the church. Today, the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates believers, and indwells them for comfort, sanctification, and Kingdom service (2 Peter 1:19-21; John 3:5-8; 16:8-11; Titus 3:5-7; Galatians 5:16-25; 1 Corinthians 12:4-7; Ephesians 2:20). 9.! The bodily return of Christ will bring the resurrection of the dead and the final judgment of the righteous to eternal life and the wicked to everlasting destruction (Matthew 24:29-51; 1 Corinthians 15:50-58; 2 Thessalonians 1:9; Revelation 20:7-15). 10.! Christ has called the church to be holy, to carry out His Great Commission, and to build up all Christians. Each local congregation should be autonomous and unified, following the model of the New Testament church in government and practice (Matthew 16:18, 19, 28:18-20; Ephesians 4:16ff.). The College also ascribes to the Tenets of Faith shared by all members of the Association for Biblical Higher Education (abhe.org).

10 ! Section 2 Bible & Ministry Programs Central Christian College of the Bible was established to recruit and train leaders for the church. Our educational offerings in Biblical Studies, Professional Studies, and General Studies allows graduates to be successful in a variety of ministry careers. Our graduates serve as preachers, youth ministers, worship leaders, campus ministers, church planters, children s ministers, and Christian counselors. Our graduates and former students have worked within most of the continents and in many countries of the world. God s word is at the heart of our education. In terms of credit hour requirements, a Central student will spend more time in Biblical Studies courses than any other subject. As one supporter put it, Central is the college with the Bible in it! We are committed to this emphasis on Scripture. Since the Bible is the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice of the church, it is the basic text of study at Central. The message of the Bible must be clearly understood in order for the church to govern itself properly, to develop a proper theology, and to establish a biblical, ethical system. The principles for shaping and guiding the lives of others in every aspect of life are drawn from this same unchangeable word of God. Biblical courses equip students with tools and training for accurately handling the Bible, with studies in Old Testament, New Testament, and Theology. Students also learn to use the Bible by studying other areas. Professional Studies courses explain how the Bible can benefit one s own walk with Christ, bring others to a relationship with Christ, and bless the body of Christ. Service and Leadership Training (SALT) courses are an important part of each ministry program, bringing biblical truths into a ministry context. We live and minister in a complex world, filled with people who do not recognize the truths of God s word. General Studies courses help students better understand today s culture and how to communicate with people. This informs how the church ministers in the world and how Scripture can apply to the world. The following pages describe programs that are available to prepare students in Bible and Ministry. All two-year and four-year degrees include significant study in the areas mentioned above. Each program is designed to prepare students for multiple career possibilities, some of which are described. 11 10 Central Christian College of the Bible Section 2 - Bible & Ministry Programs ONLINE COURSES AND PROGRAMS Online courses taught by Central teachers are equivalent to the onsite courses and have the same course description. Online versions of Central courses are scheduled as needed to support online certificates and degrees. Students pursuing a traditional program on campus may use online courses to fulfill equivalent requirements. A few courses are offered through a partnership with Lincoln Christian University, from which the students earn credits that are both nationally accredited by ABHE and regionally accredited by HLC. Students display knowledge of key Bible passages, characters, and events. They learn to identify geographical, historical, and cultural contexts of biblical events and books. They also learn basic principles of biblical interpretation and affirm and defend the truthfulness of the Bible and Christian faith. 14 BIBLICAL RESEARCH Catalog 13 Section 2 - Bible & Ministry Programs Students focus on studying biblical languages to conduct academic research and writing. They learn grammar and syntax of Hebrew and Greek, translating Old Testament and New Testament texts into English. Students learn the exegetical process, including the use of sound principles of interpretation, biblical study tools, scholarly works, and collaboration to develop sermons or lessons. (This program is available onsite as a major or a minor.) Career Opportunities The program qualifies graduates for further theological studies at seminary. Graduates who complete the Biblical Research program may serve in preaching and teaching roles in a local church. They can pursue Bible translation options in missions. Careers in producing and editing theological writing are also possible. 15 14 Central Christian College of the Bible Section 2 - Bible & Ministry Programs CHRISTIAN COUNSELING Students in the Christian Counseling program will learn how to identify needs and offer appropriate help to people facing different situations. They accomplish this through a careful evaluation of counseling theories and application of those theories through a biblical worldview. They understand situations requiring counseling, demonstrate good counseling skills, and are able to apply biblical truths to those situations. (This program is available onsite as a major or a minor.) Career Opportunities Graduates who complete a Christian Counseling degree are qualified to do personal religious counseling as part of their own ministries. Graduates may be employed to do spiritual counseling in a church, employed as a camp counselor, or work in certain social service positions. A graduate is prepared to meet the entrance requirements of a graduate counseling program, which is required to be eligible for state licensure, both of which are required in many professional contexts. 16 CHRISTIAN EDUCATION Catalog 15 Section 2 - Bible & Ministry Programs Christian educators inform God s people for their development and service in God s kingdom. This program helps students understand the characteristics, needs, and developmental tasks for learning in all stages of human development. Students learn to prepare age-appropriate lessons that present biblical truth to the needs of learners. Students also develop the leadership role of evaluating products and resources that are available to assist the educational ministry of the church. (This program is available onsite as a major or a minor.) Career Opportunities Graduates who complete the Christian Education program are trained for ministry in a local church in areas such as children s ministry, adult education, discipleship, small groups, involvement, and Christian education. Many Christian schools also accept a Christian education degree as qualification for teaching at the preschool and elementary level. Graduates may also pursue a graduate degree in education or alternative certification leading to initial teaching certification. 22 ! Section 3 Specialized Programs Students who desire to serve God s kingdom in ways other than our core ministry programs have several areas of study available through specialized programs. These options allow students to prepare for unique and creative applications of servant-leadership through a variety of educational experiences. COLLABORATIVE EDUCATIONAL OPTIONS The specialized programs detailed on the following pages require a combination of credits from Central and concentrated training from one of our educational partners (cccb.edu/partners). The specialized programs result in a certificate, minor, or additional degree from the partner institution. The credits may also fulfill part of the Associate of Professional Studies (APS) or Bachelor of Religious Studies (BRS) degree requirements. These collaborative opportunities utilize incoming transfer credits, dual enrollment, or specialized educational experiences. INCOMING TRANSFER CREDITS Many students transfer specialized training taken at another accredited college into a Bible and Ministry program at Central. Up to 60 credits earned elsewhere can apply towards a Bachelor of Religious Studies in Missional Occupations. DUAL ENROLLMENT Moberly Area Community College (MACC) provides career programs through their seven sites, one of which is conveniently located in Moberly. They offer a wide assortment of vocational certificates and degrees that may be used as the professional studies requirement of the APS or BRS degrees. These programs may also be added to a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. MACC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Johnson University (JU) delivers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs through their campuses in Knoxville, Tennessee; Orlando, Florida; and online. Our students may utilize dual enrollment with Johnson to pursue several degrees while still enrolled at Central. Various areas of specialization are described in the following pages. Johnson University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC, and the Commission on Accreditation of the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE).
