1 HOWARD WILLS & THE POWER OF PRAYER Verily, I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. - Matthew 21:21 Does prayer really work? Since I had experienced what is called in the medical profession as a healing miracle, I decided to go visit Howard Wills and find out exactly what his method for healing was all about. It some way without knowing my name or exact location he had used prayer to heal me in an instant of an illness that had been with me for thirty-five years. It felt as though I had suddenly become cleansed and aligned with creation. At the moment in which my body was healed, restored and renewed, I had become one with the desert, the setting sun, the vast sky and all of the beings moving, breathing and living in and around me. Howard is a fascinating man with an extraordinary gift that was given to him directly by the Light. When he was in his twenties he was walking along a path at this college campus in Columbia, South Carolina when an inner voice directed him to lie in the grass and face the sun. Realizing that there was importance to the message, Howard followed the inner guidance. He was immediately filled with the Light that came through the sun and when he awoke two hours later his life was different. He knew things about people, and he also had an extraordinary gift of healing. Spending time with him, I understood that God was my best friend. By his own admission, Howard does not think but is completely surrendered to God. His life is a spontaneous response to his mission and inner guidance.

2 Over a period of a few years I was healed of a variety of incurable physical ailments and will share some of these extraordinary events later in the book. I also witnessed hundreds of people have what we refer to as miracle healings. While most people are very open and loving, there have been a few who were resistant to the work and refused the help, which always puzzles me. Doubt, negativity and fear create walls. I believe that in some way all people are helped by prayer, yet if we wish to have a miracle we need to prepare our consciousness and be ready to accept the Light when it comes our way with total vulnerability and without hesitation. When we do fifty percent of the work, spirit will come and help us with the rest. And if there is a moment of grace and the Light visits us even in the middle of a desert, we want to throw our arms open, jump into the mystery and say, YES!

3 A PRAYER FOR THE WORLD In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 When John in the New Testament refers to the Word, he is speaking about the original vibrations of Creation. This is a profound teaching because we realize that there is no separation between the Intelligence of the Universe and its expression. Since we are made in the image of the divine, we also are invited to consider that what we say we speak into being. What we think becomes manifest in our lives and it leads to what we do. Our words, thoughts and deeds create the lives that we live into. With this in mind we might decide to carefully select what it is that we wish for, what energies we expose ourselves to in our environments and strive to be more aligned with and like the Infinite Light. When I spent time with the hugging saint Ammachi, her devotees could ask for a mantra. It is given after a great deal of contemplation for the guru selects certain words that are designed to support your particular journey. The mantra is sacred and is never shared with even intimate others, for that is said to reduce its effect. A mantra also gives the mind something to do and meanwhile we are distracted away from our personal stories and as we return to our true nature we become naturally joyful. Howard Wills has given me permission to print one of his powerful prayers here. It is entitled, Prayer For The World and through this magnificent piece of work, we can begin to understand the effects words have on us.

5 Now And Forever Please God, Thank You God, Amen Thank You God, Amen -Howard Wills 1 Howard Wills suggests that people read Prayer For the World five times a day so that the Light can cleanse and restore us on a regular basis. In order to understand the science of prayer we must first understand that Prayer For The World has an immediate healing impact on the mind, heart and body. Saying these words produces results quickly. I have seen colic halt in horses just by uttering these words. People s lives can turn around and become aligned and filled with bliss by following this practice. The evercurious mind always wants to know why, so let s inquire into the nature of prayer going through the first stanza line by line. God, For Me, My Family, Our Entire Lineage And All Humanity This one line is packed full of information. We begin with the word God which acts as a powerful catalyst for the words that follow. It is as though as soon as we speak one of the names of God (Infinite Light, Divine Light, YHVH, Jehovah, Immanuel, Allah, Buddha, Tao, Great Spirit, I AM, and there are countless more) the universe begins to listen. The frequency around us becomes pregnant with possibility. 1 - All of Howard Will s prayers are given freely to the world. They can be found and downloaded at

6 With two words, For Me, we have already linked ourselves to the Infinite Light and have by our own wish become one with Life. When we say, My Family we often mean the ones who are closest to us. By uttering these two words have now effectively linked the Light to ourselves and to the ones we love. With five words we have effectively lifted up at least three people, and probably many more. We then add, Our Entire Lineage which is very potent. If we agree with the theory of evolution then we are speaking about 200,000 years of history on planet earth. If we contemplate the idea that there are other star systems and that we may have multiple lives, we may be speaking of a lineage that links us all the way back to the origin of Light. In just this earthly human lineage there have been wars, famines, plagues, diseases, rapes, murders and all kinds of tragedies. We are products of our lineage. Another great teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh, practices getting rooted in our lineage in order to create abiding peace within. This first line of Howard s prayer cleanses us, our families and our lineage so that we can become rooted in our True Nature, which at its source is peace. Then finally we add, All Humanity, which links us all to the Light. We aren t saying let s pray for the people who are close to us, or who have a similar spiritual belief system, but everyone on earth. We include in our prayer not only those we love, but also those we struggle and all the people we have never met. That is a lot of information packed into one line. So we realize that when we pray with an open heart, mind and focused intent, then some very real changes begin happening on a cellular level. When we clear ourselves, our families and humankind then we can connect to the Infinite Light again and live in harmony and peace.

7 The next line states that we will continue this practice not only in the current moment. There is an inherent understanding that all time is contained within the present: Throughout All Time, Past, Present And Future We begin to understand that time is not linear, even though we might perceive it that way. It is actually a spiral, so all things in the past, present and future are actually taking place right now. What we heal in this moment effects all time and seven generations forward and back. All generations reap benefits from the amends and corrections that we make now. Please Help Us All Forgive Each Other This line teaches the power of forgiveness. Christian mystic Emmet Fox wrote about the hidden power of forgiveness. When we solve our problems, smooth out our difficulties, clear up our addictions then freedom and opportunity come our way. Forgiveness can help invalids walk again. Forgiveness can release us from our prisons of pain and liberate us so that we can enjoy our lives once again. When we forgive ourselves we clear anything that blocks us from our indwelling presence. The forth line reads: Forgive Ourselves, Forgive All People Forgiveness begins within our own hearts and minds. When we forgive ourselves for all judgments that we have held against

8 ourselves or others we are free. This line releases any negativity we may have been holding in our body/mind and once we clear ourselves many ailments disappear in our bodies in an instant. It is our own judgment and negativity that creates much of our own suffering. We can forgive each other and ourselves, drop our stories of sorrow and live in a new world. It is very simple. And All People Forgive Us When people have negative thoughts about us it has an impact on our bodies, minds and souls. We have to clear what is negative off of us so that we are not harmed by it and that can be done through prayer. Here we ask that if we have done any harm against another through thought, word or deed that it be cleared and forgiven by others. Completely and Totally, Now And Forever The sixth line asks for a complete, total and eternal transformation. The word complete means having all the necessary or normal parts, components or steps that we need for the entirety of our lives. It also refers to the conclusion of a process, and in this case we understand it to mean complete forgiveness on all levels throughout all time, space and dimension. There might even be things we have said or done unconsciously that harmed another that can be melted with this prayer. Forever means that this prayer of forgiveness will last always. When we pray we send a song out into the universe, and like the butterfly effect, a small movement can have wide and unseen consequences.

9 Please God, Thank You God, Amen The last line of the first stanza returns us back to God and to gratitude. Howard is always quick to remind us that when we speak to God that we must always have reverence and respect. We remember always to say, Please God, and Thank You God out of respect for the Infinite Light of which we are all a part. When we align with the source of all life then our prayers are heard and answered for the highest good of all concerned. Amen is one of the names of God that originates from the Sun- God Amun-Ra and reminds us to turn to face the sun, the external design of the internal Light.
