2 a Sound Vision for Luxury Living with True Multi-Room Audio and Video Distribution Residential Installation Location: Farnham, Surrey The project Carried out between July-December 2014, this luxury residential property in Farnham, Surrey, UK was the subject of a complete renovation and whole house automation, from the typical bedrooms, bathrooms, living and dining areas and kitchen, to the more adventurous future additions of a swimming pool and garden tree house - all of which featuring WyreStorm to manage the distribution and control of AV to each area. 3 Project Details With a budget of 70,000 (approximately $107,000), the aim of the project was to distribute audio and video sources to multiple rooms with simple control for each member of the family to use. The client wanted to keep all devices discrete so that they did not look out of place with the proposed interior design of the property. As installer, CTS main requirement for the installation was reliability, which, as John Schaffer from CTS, states, was a key factor in specifying WyreStorm for the project. CTS has been installing WyreStorm products for over 3 years and after using a number of various manufacturers before we wouldn t recommend any other for HD distribution due to its ease of installation and reliability, as well as the flexibility and scalability offered by their product range. On the odd occasion that we have required any support on products, the WyreStorm technical team have proved to be extremely easy to talk to and supportive until our needs have been met. As the client made it clear they wanted a variety of sources and a minimalist design with simple control, CTS opted for that a centralized AV rack using a tried and tested combination of WyreStorm for HD distribution and Control 4 for control to offer the most effective solution, as Schaffer notes, Our previous experience integrating WyreStorm and Control 4 has proven to be a bulletproof solution on every project that meets the requirements. 4 Of course, all projects offer challenges to overcome and issues faced by CTS when designing the integration of source equipment into a multi room audio system was the number of sources with digital audio outputs only that would not simply connect to the multi-room audio system with analogue audio in only. the AV industry and also with CTS. We continuously use WyreStorm as they prove to be an effective solution for both the end user and installer, with this particular model of matrix offering all the features required to meet our exact requirements, while doing so at a very competitive price. The project itself featured a number of notable features, one of which being the use of the analogue audio outputs on the matrix to deliver video source audio into the multi room audio system. This allowed CTS to produce better quality audio for the client when watching television and also to extend the audio to rooms without a television. An example of where the client had a specifically requested this functionality was when entertaining or watching sports from a large screen on their impressive garden patio so audio could be played from the cable/satellite box inside the house. Furthermore, another feature CTS were able to offer with each device integrated into the Rako lighting system keypad, was activation of various media scenes at the touch of a button, such as turning a TV to a specific source or selecting an audio source. All of which was made possible with WyreStorm at the heart of the system. The solution was to use a WyreStorm MX-0808-PP-AUD HDBaseT matrix with analogue audio outputs to enable the fluent connection the audio into the Sonos multi room audio system, while also seamlessly handling the video distribution up to 70m/230ft between zones using WyreStorm HDBaseT display receivers. We decided to use the WyreStorm MX-0808-PP-AUD matrix in this particular project for a number of reasons. Firstly, WyreStorm has an outstanding reputation within Our client was extremely pleased with the simplicity of using the system and the complete end result. Image quality through the WyreStorm matrix was praised as was the minimal time involved in-between switching sources. As a frequent installer of HD distribution products we find that WyreStorm are the most suitable choice for us as they should be for every other installer.
