3 "Worship and serve Him with your whole heart and with a willing mind. For the LORD sees every heart and understands and knows every plan and thought. If you seek Him, you will find Him. 1 Chronicles 28:9 King David was a worshipper. He understood that our heart and mind work together to worship and serve the Lord. In the words above, David is giving instructions to his son Solomon on how to accomplish a great task, building the temple. This is where God s presence would be known and experienced. We too have a great task in building a Worship Ministry where God's presence is known and experienced. David's words to Solomon could also be applied to us today. So let's seek Him with our whole heart, focus on Him with a willing mind, and let Him be the center of all we do in worship ministry. It is my calling to lead God's people in worship. I am so blessed each week to see a church family with such a passion for praise. I am passionate about worship and it is my deep desire to see others engaged in authentic worship. It is also my great privilege to lead such an awesome worship team as we lead the worship experience in our church each week. Their servant's hearts and love for the Lord is so evident as they lead worship. As you review this handbook, keep in mind that it is a guideline to provide focus and clear expectations for each team member. Please prayerfully consider the responsibility and accountability you are accepting. Thank you again for your interest in the worship ministry. 4 Worship Team Guidelines By joining the worship team, you agree to adhere to these guidelines as best as possible. PSBC Worship Team Required Skills Vocalists: Excellent pitch and pleasant tone quality Ability to sing well with a live band setting Blends with other voices Doesn t overpower, but is strong on his/her part Great Stage Presence Sings with confidence and joy Exhibits confidence rather than nervousness or arrogance Makes eye contact with the congregation Band: Controls pitch and tone quality Reads music and/or chord charts Blends with other instruments Doesn t overpower, but is strong on his/her part Great Stage Presence Plays Exhibits confidence rather than nervousness or arrogance Worship leading is: - both worshiping God and engaging others into worship - being someone who worships (We cannot lead where we are not willing to first go ourselves.) - being someone who worships on and off the platform. (We must value personal worship outside of Sundays.) Worship leading is NOT: - simply singing/playing good songs - a performance for an audience of spectators - a platform to display our talent, while others worship Psalm 33:1-3 says, Let the godly sing for joy to the LORD; it is fitting for the pure to praise him. Praise the LORD with melodies on the lyre; make music for him on the ten-stringed harp. Sing a new song of praise to Him; play skillfully on the harp, and sing with joy. As a Worship Team we don t just sing songs or play in a band. Our role in the Worship Team is to lead in worship each time we are on the stage. In understanding this, it is important to follow the following guidelines. Commitment to Grow Spiritually This commitment is as important on an individual basis as it is to the team. As a leadership ministry, we need to be committed to maturing in Christ ourselves. Please let me know how I can help you grow in this area! If you are not a part of a Sunday Study group or Home group, please consider joining one. Accountability During your involvement in the worship ministry, should you or the leadership of the church feel that your personal life is not reflecting a Christ-centered life as modeled in the Bible, we will offer you the opportunity to step down to sort out those issues. Excellence For Christ Strive to honor God through a whatever it takes work ethic. (1 Corinthians 9:24-27, Run in such a way as to get the prize ) Recognize that God isn't looking for perfection, but excellence that is, offering our best to Him. Realize that we can minister to God and others through a mutual desire to seek God's best. (Colossians 3:23-24, Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men )

5 Spiritually Prepared to Minister Our spiritual preparation has an impact on our effectiveness as a worship and ministry team. We need to come ready not only to sing and play music, but also to worship the King personally and corporately. We are leading the congregation in worship, as well as ministering to them. Please be sure that you understand that we are all leaders and ministers and need not take that responsibility lightly. Attendance The worship ministry places high value in rehearsal attendance. In order for the team to succeed and perform at an optimum level, rehearsal attendance is a priority. Without regular attendance the team suffers. While it is expected that members may pursue other passions outside of PSBC, it is also expected that members demonstrate a high sense of value in the area of rehearsal attendance. All team members are expected to attend the weekly rehearsals and worship service times. If you are not able to make a rehearsal or worship service, please contact the Worship Pastor no later than 24 hours prior to the rehearsal or service time. If you do not contact the Worship Pastor in that time frame, you will be assumed as declining and unable to participate in the Sunday service. Rehearsals and Service Times Wednesday Rehearsals (Wednesday 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) Sunday Sound-Check (9:00 a.m.) Sunday Worship Services (10:30 a.m.) Planning Center All team members are required to set up and use an account with our online worship tool called Planning Center Online. Planning center is what we use to schedule you for each service. You can also see the order of worship and even download and listen to the songs that will be sung on that particular Sunday. You can access this from: Once you ve become part of the team, the Worship Pastor will you a request to sign up. You will use your as your username and you can choose a password. The worship team also may be requested to lead worship for special services, seminars, meetings, and retreats. These times and dates will be scheduled and given to each team member ahead of time. Commitment to Modesty Park Springs Bible Church has a come as you are, casual feel and we want our worship leaders to have the same feel. We are not matching everyone in the same colors for clothing just dress normally. However, because you are on the stage and in the public eye, be mindful of how you dress to lead in worship so as not to be a distraction.
