2 MOLYKOTE G-n PLUS Description ASSEMBLY PASTES Molykote G-n Plus paste is a multi-purpose, heavy-duty lubricating paste formulated to be an efficient assembly lubricant for machinery running-in, press-fits and threaded connections. It contains a blend of molybdenum disulphide powder and other lubricating solids, along with corrosion and oxidation inhibitors. Molykote G-n Plus paste provides boundary friction lubrication beyond the yield point of steel. It is effective at temperatures from 25 C to +120 C as a paste and to +450 C as a dry solid lubricant. Benefits A paste is ideal for assembly Lubrication. It is easy to apply during assembly when parts are accessible; it adheres well to metal surfaces; and no special preparation is required, beyond making certain that surfaces are clean. Material and application costs are low compared to other preassembly treatments such as plating and surface hardening. This product extends the life of new and rebuilt equipment by minimising assembly and running-in damage. MOLYKOTE G-n PLUS Assembly Paste Multi-purpose, heavy-duty lubricating paste. Contains more than 60% blend of molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) and other lubricating solids in a mineral oil base. Assembly applications include: Press-fitting of parts with interference fits. Assembly of threaded connections and fasteners. Proper running in of machinery. Reduction or prevention of fretting wear after assembly. Tests with this product showed no fretting wear of test specimens; significant wear occurred on specimens lubricated with other competitor pastes and greases. How to Use G-n Plus paste is a soft paste and may be applied by brushing or wiping, but the preferred method is burnishing into the surfaces to be lubricated (an aerosol version of this paste is available as G- Rapid Plus). Surfaces to be lubricated should be clean, and only a thin coating of the material is needed to supply an effective lubricating film with a reserve of solids to maintain lubricating efficiency over extended service periods. 3 MOLYKOTE G RAPID PLUS Description MOLY METAL ASSEMBLY PASTE Molykote G Rapid Plus is a premium quality metal lubricating paste. It is a mixture of a mineral oil base and a blend of solid lubricants, mainly molybdenum disulphide. Service temperature range is from -35 C to +450 C. Benefits Molykote G Rapid Plus forms a thin solid lubricant film on the metal surface easily without the need of burnishing. It also has excellent penetrating properties. The film lowers friction, prevents metal-to-metal contact (seizure, scuffing) and protects against wear. The solid lubricant film has excellent load carrying capacity and has a compressive resistance as great as all known metals. It also has excellent resistance to ageing and to high temperature. MOLYKOTE G RAPID PLUS Moly Metal Assembly Paste Multi-purpose, heavy-duty lubricating paste. Contains a blend of molybdenum disulphide and other lubricating solids in a mineral oil/solvent for easy application. Excellent load, extreme pressure capability. Colour: black Service temperature range: -35 C to +450 C. Reduce friction and wear, prevents stick-slip. Available in an aerosol spray; non-cfc propellant. Contains corrosion and oxidation inhibitors. Aids in disassembly. Excellent running-in paste. Suitable for use as a running-in lubricant, metal working, press-fit or assembly lubricant, screw threads, shafts etc. such as bore holes or internal threads. Molykote G Rapid Plus is ideal for pressfitting and metal assembly operations, especially the treatment of complex or inaccessible sliding surfaces. It is used to reduce friction and wear under extreme load. Ideal as a running-in lubricant for new or re conditioned machines, for guides, rails, tooling machines, threaded spindles, splined shafts, dead centres. It is also designed for gears, racks and pinions, cylinder head bolts, screw threads, bearings etc. The paste can also be used on valves, shafts, pumps, drawing, cutting punching tools. How to Use Apply Molykote G Rapid plus in a uniform, thin film with a brush. No burnishing is required. 4 5Kg can MOLYKOTE P40 Description ASSEMBLY PASTE Molykote P40 is a metal free adhesive lubricant paste which can be used for all assembly and continuous lubricating jobs, particularly those exposed to corrosive environments such as splash water or humidity. Benefits Molykote P40 assembly paste is a metal free paste with excellent tolerance to high temperature -40 to +230 C as a paste (up to C as a dry lubricant). Molykote P40 has excellent adhesion, corrosion resistance and good separation/sealing properties. Most important of all, this assembly paste does not contain any Metals, which may cause metallurgical damage or failure at high temperatures - especially stainless steel high alloy steels P40being metal free may be used in areas where there may a chance of environmental concern with pollution. MOLYKOTE P40 Assembly Paste A metal free assembly paste. Service temperature range: -40 C to C. Colour: Green Excellent load carrying capability, sealing and release properties, ageing and corrosion resistance. Optimum coefficient of friction (u = 0.16). No detrimental effect on stainless steel or nimonic alloy fasteners. Low water Pollution class. Good resistance against fretting corrosion. Good Water resistance. Good Corrosion Protection. Non-toxic ingredients. Suitable for most types of bolt and fasteners, in particular stainless steel or nimonic alloys operating in severe environments and high temperatures. Examples are combustion engines, small turbines, gas generators, furnaces, in petrochemical and mining industries, steel mills, Open Gears, Marine and Rail applications due to excellent corrosion protection etc. Molykote P40 should be applied to assemblies exposed to severe conditions and/or high temperatures. It is especially suitable for Marine or Rail use as they are exposed to harsh weather conditions. Apply to brake mechanisms (cams, rods guides, hinges, slide bearings) on trucks, buses, and all commercial vehicles. Open Gears, wire ropes, and threaded connections in open to weather or humidity situations. How to Use Molykote P40 should be applied liberally and in sufficient quantities to seal the thread surface. If possible, the threads should be degreased. Used or corroded fasteners should be cleaned with a wire brush. Apply to assemblies using a stiff brush, when being used as a corrosion protection paste, ensure all surfaces are coated for maximum protection.
