Their first meeting was in San Francisco, California on August 11, In 1984, the organization s members voted to change the name of the organization at a convention in Dallas, Texas. In 1985, the name of the organization was changed to International Training in Communication. Thus, retaining its initials and promoting an organization that was open to both sexes.
