2 Introduction Under the universally known and respected name of lexcon, have the largest range of kitemarked vessels and are the only commercial vessels issued with a Certificate of Test by SI. Many years of research and development, coupled with over twenty five years of experience in the UK, have produced expansion vessels of the highest quality to give a long and trouble free life. In addition to the standard range, vessels are available up to 1, litre capacity. Advantages Operation lexibility of system design. Most design arrangements can be used unlike open systems which impose restrictions. Architectural freedom. No special tank room and no special load bearing structures associated with open systems. efore filling the installation The diaphragm is pushed up against the vessel wall by the factory pre-set initial gas charge. The gas charge supports the pressure exerted by the static height of water above the vessel which is normally., 1. or 1. bar. Cost saving. Installation time is reduced considerably and equipment is less expensive in most cases compared with open systems. TEMP PRESSURE Longer, more efficient system life. Resulting from the virtual elimination of corrosion, and the unique rolling action of the lexcon diaphragm*. Energy saving. Under normal operating conditions a lexcon sealed system does not use any energy. On filling When the system is filled there will be a small amount of water in the lexcon vessel. TEMP Elevated temperatures. Elevated temperatures may be used with lexcon sealed systems. No freezing. Equipment is normally in a frost free area. Localised boiling. This is overcome by the system operating pressure. No pumping over. This cannot happen with a lexcon sealed system. Maintenance free. lexcon equipment does not require any routine maintenance or on site adjustment. PRESSURE At operating temperature The total system water expansion is taken up within the vessel. The pressure has risen and the diaphragm is virtually static with equal pressure on either side.
