5 Undergraduate Scholarship Award The PartnerRe Undergraduate Scholarship Award was launched in It is available to students who are pursuing a first undergraduate degree and interested in a career in business. Study must be undertaken at an accredited university or college overseas. The annual value of the Scholarship is 25,000 USD or equivalent, and recipients will be given the opportunity to work in an overseas office of PartnerRe during the summer between their third and fourth academic years.* The PartnerRe Undergraduate Scholarship is limited to Bermudian applicants and tenable for up to three years. It will be awarded annually to a student who has completed a minimum of one year of post-secondary education or equivalent at an accredited institution. This Scholarship will be awarded to a student demonstrating excellent academic skills, community involvement, leadership ability and acute financial need. The second and third years of funding are dependent on the maintenance of a Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher (or equivalent). * This internship experience is not a guarantee of a position with PartnerRe on the completion of your studies. Conditions of Scholarship 1. Partner Reinsurance Company Ltd. will give one PartnerRe Undergraduate Scholarship Award annually to a student who has completed a minimum of one year of postsecondary education, at an accredited institution, and who demonstrates excellent academic skills, community involvement, leadership ability and acute financial need. The scholarship is tenable for a period of up to three years and is intended for undergraduate study, outside of Bermuda, at an accredited university or college. 2. The Scholarship will be awarded solely on the criteria listed above. 3. Scholarship winners may not hold any other scholarships awarded on academic merit from local sources. 4. The Selection Committee will comprise of five members selected at the discretion of Partner Reinsurance Company Ltd. 5. The Scholarship winner must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 Grade Point Average (American system), or equivalent, to be awarded funds in their second and third years. The Selection Committee reserves the right to withdraw a Scholarship at any time if the work or conduct of the recipient is unsatisfactory. 6. Recipients are required to provide the Selection Committee with official transcripts after each term. 7. The Selection Committee reserves the right to withhold the Scholarship or to make additional awards should an existing Scholarship become available. 8. The following are the required qualifications for all candidates: a. Must be Bermudian or PRC Holder b. Must have been educated in Bermuda for a minimum of five years c. Proven acute financial need d. Acceptance to or enrollment in an undergraduate program at an accredited university or college overseas 9. The application will be made on the attached form and must be accompanied by: a. Official transcripts from both the institution currently attended and high school b. Proof of Bermudian status c. Proof that the applicant has had at least five years of education in Bermuda d. A personal essay (approximately 1000 words) that includes a discussion of academic achievements, involvement in sports, extra-curricular and community activities, financial need, aspirations and hopes for future career, including a statement as to why the candidate should be awarded the Scholarship e. A letter of acceptance or proof of continued enrollment in an accredited overseas university or college (may be submitted at time of short-listing). 10.
