Lightly toned, dig by 1 of date, almost extremely fine, with a pleasing portrait, struck on a full round flan, and rare this nice. 5, [email protected]

Toned, a little softly struck in areas more on reverse, about very fine, on a full round flan. 2,750 Ex Mike Tallent, Stacks, Chicago, hicago, 24 th April 2008, lot 15 BH042 Elizabeth I ( ), Crown, mint mark 1, (1601), elaborate crowned bust left, holding orb and sceptre which points to I, three fingers on handle, rev. quartered shield of arms on cross fourchée, 29.32g (Cooper dies D/6; N.2012; S.2582). Tiny nick on forehead, attractive even tone, without the usual annealing striations that spoil so many of these magnificent portrait pieces, practically extremely fine and a very pleasing example. 15,000 BH043 Charles I ( ), Crown, Tower Mint, type 1a, mint mark lis (1625), King on horseback left with raised sword, rev quartered shield of arms on long cross fourchée, 29.84g (FRC IV/II; N.2190; S.2753; Brooker 233). 7 HALFCROWNS Formerly the Plate Coin in the Standard Catalogue BH060 Charles I ( ), Halfcrown, Tower Mint, type 1a1, King on horseback left with sword resting on shoulder, ground-line below, initial mark lis (1625) both sides, rev quartered shield of arms upon long cross fourchée, no stops in legend 14.74g (Bull 5/1d-I (0-15); Brooker 277/276; N.2200; S.2763). Lightly double-struck, toned practically extremely fine with an excellent portrait of King, a very pleasing specimen. 3,500 Ex H M Lingford ingford Collection, ollection, portion sold privately to A H Baldwin, 1951 Previously used as a plate coin in the days of black and white in the Standard Catalogue BH061 Charles I, Halfcrown, Tower Mint, type 1a, light-weight issue (14 th August 6 th September 1626), King on horseback left with sword resting on shoulder, no ground-line, initial mark cross calvary (1625-6) both sides, rev quartered shield of arms, 12.69g (Bull 45L/2 (3-16) this coin; Brooker -; N.2202; S.2766 note). Some light annealing flaws, scratches and surface marks, once cleaned, good fine, only 6,768 worth of silver struck in the short light-weight period, extremely rare. 650 BH063 Charles I, Halfcrown, Tower Mint, type 2c, King on horseback left with sword resting on shoulder, initial mark portcullis (1633-4) both sides, rev oval quartered shield of arms, C to left, R to right, 12.85g (Bull - / 20 (2-9); cf.brooker 316; N.2207; S.2771).
