2 Use of Premises/Visiting Speakers IT Security General Safeguarding Concerns S taff Extremists views being expounded by speakers Access to extremist material on Line/Safeguarding issues with students being groomed Students being groomed, abuse, inappropriate relationships, harm to students, FGM etc Visiting speakers of potential concern to be risk assessed by staff arranging the speaker. The assessment must ensure that the content of the presentation is watched and checked for extremist views/any paperwork is carefully checked and screened. The visiting speaker is made aware of the College expectations in promoting democracy and the fundamental British Values adhered to this. The visiting speaker must be appropriately escorted on the premises and a member of staff must remain with them at all times. Speaker risk assessment document in place to complete for all visiting speakers- this has been endorsed by the Local police authority IT to ensure Safeguard Filternet be in place on accessing websites that promote extremist views Clear Safeguarding policy in place covering all key areas including staff code of conduct, examples of abuse, KCSIE guidance etc. Policy reviewed by governors and advice taken from Local Authority with ongoing liaison as well as referencing national initiatives. A copy of this policy is printed in all Planners which are signed for. Training updates take place on a regular ongoing basis for staff in close contact with students. All staff at the college are required to complete Hays online training level 1 which covers Prevent and FGM as well as all key Safeguarding areas.
3 Boarding Student risk General Student Welfare Students Students Risk of intruders on site, students receiving distressing news overnight due to international nature of college and different time zones Students need to be cared for with appropriate boundaries set and protocols in place for missing students, students should be checked regularly so we know where they are at all times now employed to roam site overnight instead of sleeping in so an active member of staff is available for students 24 hours. House Parents readily contactable at night or during evening with new buzzer systems installed in residences on main campus as well as all under 18 houses where needed. ing levels reviewed with BSA and checked against BSA advice Residences now have residential House Parents in the house overnight- this increases staff cover for students to access in emergency situations Clear protocols and policies in place including Safeguarding, Missing Students, Behaviour Policy, Exclusions Policy, Personal Development Policy. Pastoral Practice and Welfare Policy etc. Students are electronically registered every 50 mins in lessons In the evening House Parents take regular checks so they know where students are and record this electronically. Under 18 students checked and first thing in morning, any students missing followed up on as per published protocols r 11 students have to sign in at breakfast so we know they have had a meal at the start of the day, and are escorted from residence at the start of terms until they can demonstrate they are fully familiar with road safety and are confident in walking to college. They are seen out of residence and checked on arrival at the college for breakfast. All rooms on main campus checked in the morning to ensure students have left their room and are in college. Over 18 students deemed to be higher risk are required to be resident on the main site and have to comply with a number of the same rules as under 18 students.
