Overview New 2 TB hard disk drive (HDD) s are now available for new partialpopulated and fully-configured IBM XIV Storage Systems. Key prerequisites Partially populated IBM XIV Storage Systems that are shipped from the factory with 2 TB HDD s must continue to be populated with 2 TB HDD s. Partially populated IBM XIV Storage Systems that are shipped from the factory with 1 TB HDD s must continue to be populated with 1 TB HDD s. You cannot mix 1 TB HDD s and 2 TB HDD s in a single XIV Storage System frame. All features and functions in this announcement are supported on the IBM XIV Storage System Model A14 with IBM XIV Storage System Software V10.2.1, or later, installed. 2 Description 2 TB hard disk drive (HDD) s New XIV and s are available on the IBM XIV Storage System. These s can now be populated with 2 TB SATA HDDs. An XIV Storage System that is fully populated with these drives will have 161 TB of usable capacity available. Partially populated configurations are also available in 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 increments. Refer to the capacity table below for details on all configurations. 1 TB s will continue to be available in fully populated and partially populated configurations. You cannot finish populating a partially populated 1 TB machine with new 2 TB s. Partially populated 1 TB machines must continue to be populated with 1 TB s.
