Use a reasonable number of people with sufficient strength when moving and installing units. Always use safe lifting techniques. Failure to do so may result in injury and/ product damage. 2 Glass } Tempered safety glass is not standard and must be special dered. Check local building codes f required safety glass locations. Do not remove product perfmance label befe final inspection. Do not allow sealants to contact glass surface. Glass surface exteri coating damage will result. If protective film is present, leave in place until unit is installed and job site construction is completed to protect glass surface. Suction Cup Protective Film Seam Do not remove protective film in an area where there are solvents flammable materials. Do not dispose of protective film in a container that may also contain flammable materials. Removing the protective film may result in a static charge that could cause a shock spark. Static discharge caused when protective film is removed may ignite flammable materials. If suction cups are used while moving installing unit, make sure that cups are not applied on the seam of the protective film. If suction cup is applied on the seam, the suction cup will lose adhesion, causing unit to slip drop and potentially causing damage injury. If loop style balance is replaced, it is recommended that both balances be changed to the clip style. 1 2 Loop Clip " Wash Assist Wash Assist Raise bottom sash " from sill. Slide wash assists down. Tilt bottom sash down and slide wash assists back up

3 3 5 Loop Style Pivot Pin Clip Style Lift one side of sash to free pivot pin. 6 Continue lifting until balance cds can be removed as shown. 7 Remove sash. If replacing top sash top sash balance, set bottom sash aside and go to step 8. 8 Bottom Sash Remove and replace balance. To reinstall sash, go to step 7. F top sash removal, go to step Balance F sash replacement, transfer balances from existing sash to the replacement sash. F balance replacement, remove existing balance and replace with replacement balance. If sash balance is not re-engaged in the track by first pushing down on the sash, it will quickly drop potentially causing injury. Reverse steps 1-5 to reinstall bottom sash. Push sash down approximately 1" to engage sash balances. Inner Channel F reinstallation, place bottom sash pivot pins in inner channel. Tilt Latch Lower top sash 8" from sill. Slide tilt latches as shown.

4 Loop Style Pivot Pin Clip Style Tilt top sash down. 12 Lift one side of sash to free pivot pin. 13 Continue lifting until balance cds can be removed as shown. 1 Phillips Screwdriver Balance Outer Channel F reinstallation, place top sash pivot pins in outer channel. Remove sash from frame F sash replacement, transfer balances from existing sash to the replacement sash. F balance replacement, remove existing balance and replace with replacement balance. Remove and replace balance. Properly discard all unused balance(s). If sash balance is not re-engaged in the track by first pushing down on the sash, it will quickly drop potentially causing injury. Reverse steps 8-12 to reinstall top sash. Reverse steps 1-5 to reinstall bottom sash. Installation is finished.

5 Finishing Do not expose unfinished wood to high moisture conditions, excessive heat humidity. Finish interi wood surfaces immediately after installation. Unfinished wood surfaces will discol, deteriate, and/ may bow and split. Do not stain paint weatherstrip, silicone beads, vinyl, glass hardware. Damage to product may occur and unit operation may be impaired. } Read and follow finishing manufacturer s instructions and warnings on each container of finish material f priming, painting, staining, and varnishing. } Finish interi wood surfaces including hidden surface at check rail immediately after installation. } Tape glass edge with painters tape pri to finishing painting wood surfaces. Protective film is not a substitute f edge masking. Lower Check Rail

6 Cleaning 1 & Maintenance } Start film removal from seam cner of film using plastic scraper if needed. Peel off film. Remove protective film within one year of installation. } Do not apply any type of film insulating materials such as window coverings, shutters, other shading devices to glass. Glass may be damaged and condensation may result causing deteriation of windows and dos. Clean glass surface using liquid glass cleaner, squeegee clean cloth only. Glass surface damage may result if abrasive cleaners are used. Protective film may pose suffocation hazard to children. Properly dispose of film immediately after removal and keep out of reach of children. Do not install air conditioning unit in window. Injury and/ damage to the product property could occur. } Do not use abrasive cleaners solutions containing crosive solvents. } Clean exteri frame, sash members, and insect screens using a mild detergent-and-water solution and soft cloth brush. Do not use metal raz blades to clean glass to remove print/finish protective film from glass surface. Glass surface exteri coating damage may result. } F further infmation, contact your local Andersen dealer. Dealers can be found in the yellow pages under windows. F a copy of Andersen product care and maintenance guides, visit } Clean persistent dirt grime, using a nonabrasive cleaner, water-andalcohol solution, water-andammonia solution. } Sand and refinish stained mildewed wood immediately to prevent further discolation damage. Acid solutions used f wash masonry/concrete will damage glass, fasteners, hardware, and metal flashing. If these solutions are used, follow the acid solution manufacturer s instructions carefully. Protect and/ cover Andersen products during the cleaning process to prevent acid contact. If acid does come in contact with unit, immediately wash all surfaces with clean water
