The names of his parents, place of birth, and the name of his wife were unknown. The day after her birth, Bocquet, in concert with Legrand, Justice of the Peace at Detroit, gave Marie to Sieur and Dame Bouron to be raised, fed, brought up and instructed in all the duties of the Catholic, Apostolic and Roman religion, as their own child. The deceased was the husband of Marie Joseph Gatignon ditte Duchesne. The quickness of his death combined with the distance of where he lived prevented Bocquet from giving him the last rites. Bocquet was consoled by the regularity of Freton s life and his assiduity at receiving the sacraments. Angélique died 29 November 1767 at la pointe Pelée dans le lac Herié, in a shipwreck where she was submerged. She was buried with her son, (2) Philippe François Marie de Couagne, about two years, who drowned with her. Sieur de Couagne declared to Bocquet that their daughter, (3) Françoise Marie Angélique de Couagne, about three years, and (4) Jacques Villeray, a native of Cedres, commander of the boat, were enveloped in the same shipwreck.
