1 High School Abroad Scholarship Application Scholarship Application Instructions These partial scholarships are open to all students in our high school semester or year abroad study programs. Recipients of the awards are chosen based on merit, as is demonstrated in the following essays and documents: Essays 1) A 500-word essay on one of the following two topics: a) Write on the following quote by Mahatma Gandhi: I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any. b) How this experience will help shape me as a global citizen, and how I hope to apply this experience to my life once I return to the US. 2) A 250-word essay on the following topics: a) The person I most admire and why b) A person who has had a major influence in my life Letter from Parent/Guardian 3) A letter from a parent or guardian addressing how you will benefit from this scholarship. Parents/Guardians: Signature of this letter provides consent and acknowledgement of your child s application to the CIEE High School Abroad Program and scholarship opportunity. Scholarship applications without signature will not be accepted. The above three documents should be sent to the address below.
