1 A & AX PIGMENTS DAYGLO A- and AX-Pigments are thermoplastic fluorescent pigments which are recommended for a wide range of applications where resistance to strong solvents is not needed. They perform well in a system based on aliphatic and some aromatic hydrocarbons. They are also usable in water systems where prolonged shelf-life is not required. The A- and AX-Pigments are used in such applications as paper coatings, vinyl coated fabric, A-type gravure inks, paints, screen inks, vinyl plastisols and organisols and plastics with melt temperatures less than 380 o F (193 o C). A-Pigments provide the brightest fluorescent color available today. AX-Pigments are much stronger than the A-Pigments and are usually a better money value depending on the application. The lightfastness of fluorescent pigment can be influenced by plasticizers, stabilizers, and other additives. 4 Page 4 of 5 Screen Printing Ink -- Vehicle for General Purpose Fluorescent Screen Ink Aromatic Solvent SC-100 or Super High Flash Naphtha EHEC High Bentone Gel: Bentone % SC % 95% Methanol 3% Made on high speed dissolver A hard resin such as Amberol M-82 2 or Pentalyn G Mineral Spirits Abitol 90X 3 (Can be replaced in part by Castung 403-UV 4 ) Dissolve resins in the aromatic solvent using a dissolver such as a Cowles and blend in other ingredients in order listed. Strain through nylon filter bags. Above vehicle DAYGLO A-Pigment Aromatic Solvent SC Blend pigment into vehicle using high speed dissolver such as a Cowles and add solvent. Strain color through nylon filter bags. Final viscosity should be about 10,000 cps. Dilution to screening viscosity and wash can be done with mineral spirits. Vinyl Plastisol Molding, Film Foaming & Fabric Coating -- (High Speed Mix) Parts per Hundred Geon DIDP (Coalescing Solvent) Dioctyl Adipate (Coalescing Solvent) Drapex 4.4 (Stabilizer) Ferro 1742 (Stabilizer) DAYGLO A- or AX-Pigment Can be converted to an organosol by thinning with volatile diluents such as VM & P Naptha or Xylene. DAYGLO A- and AX-Pigments are essentially non-toxic and contain no constituent heavy metals or inorganic phosphors.
