Haut Gap has moved from an At- Risk school rating in 2008, to a Exemplar rating in The Principal of Haut Gap Middle School, states that a big part of this overall improvement is the adoption of a set of core values and due to the addition of school-based mental health professionals and a PBIS coach/leader. The addition of these professionals has lead to the creation of an effective multi-tiered intervention system.
11 Who we are - at Haut Gap The mission of Haut Gap Middle School is to provide all students with an exceptional education in a safe and supportive environment that promotes self-discipline, motivation, and excellence.

18 What is Restorative Justice? It is a Philosophy not a Program Restorative Practices are the specific programs that align with the philosophy i.e.. Peace circles, Restorative conferences. It brings the offender together with his/her victim face-to-face to encourage each person to talk honestly about what happened, who it affected, and together find a way to repair the harm to the greatest extent possible.

34 Rethinking Discipline: Strategies at Work in Schools Today Required Reading from Education Week: Education Week Collection on Rethinking Discipline: Zero-tolerance policies, which require out-of-school suspension or expulsion for certain inappropriate behaviors, have become the go-to disciplinary approach in many schools. But research suggests some downsides: Such punishments may not change students behavior and are often meted out unfairly. These articles explore alternative approaches to suspension or expulsion. Education Week Spotlight on Classroom Management Classroom management is often one of the most challenging parts of the job for new teachers. This Spotlight explores how educators can create successful learning environments in sometimes difficult situations.
