July 3, 2013 Mission to Canada Executives and manufacturers in the aviation and aerospace industry met face-to-face with Keith and Denise during a mission to Canada last month. Each company in attendance plans a potential expansion in the Southeastern United States. Team Volusia took advantage of this timing by presenting the area's amenities while the companies' expansion efforts are in the beginning stages of planning. "This is a result of our proactive, rather than reactive, efforts to showcase Volusia and determine the needs of these high-impact businesses," said Keith. With one million Canadian visitors per year to Florida and over 400,000 Quebec residents owning or renting property in the state, Canadian businesses have a solid interest in relocation and expansion to the area. "These executives were surprised to learn of our area's lower average wage compared to adjacent higherpopulated MSAs. This substantially changed their outlook on the cost of doing business when considering an expansion to Volusia County," explained Denise. In addition to the scheduled meetings, a reception was hosted by the prestigious law firm Welch Bussieres and the Quebec-Florida Chamber of Commerce. Over 30 companies attended the event, where presentations were made by Team Volusia and Enterprise Florida. Team Volusia thanks the International Speedway Corporation for suggesting Canada as a target area for business outreach. This mission brought tremendous awareness of Volusia County's offerings to the Canadian companies and resulted in several high-potential leads for the project pipeline. President's Message Greetings, As we continue with our lead generation efforts, I'd like to remind our readers that the purpose of our travel schedule is to stay on the forefront of the minds of high level site selectors in conjunction with recruiting businesses for relocation and/or expansion. Our aggressive outreach schedule, face-to-face meetings, direct mail campaign, daily sales meetings, all have one goal -- to bring each project here to Volusia County. We

aggressively guide the project from inception to completion, and that includes all five stages of the pipeline. And if you've been to any of our monthly board meetings, you're familiar with these stages. In the latter stages, we work collaboratively with our cities, the county, and the state to complete the project location. Denise and Keith with Lou Caporusso, Investment & Trade representative of Enterprise Florida and Gerald Pisarzowski, vice president Business Development of Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance This process of recruitment -- feeding every lead through the pipeline to completion -- takes steadfast dedication and determination; it's not an overnight process and there's little instant gratification, but we're working hard to meet our goals and to help ensure the best quality of life here in Volusia County, now and for generations to come. So stay tuned and keep in touch with us as we help make "business shine brighter!" Best regards, From left to right: Natalie Ferreras of Welch Bussieres, Marcel Racicot, president of Quebec-Florida Chamber of Commerce, Denise Mott, Vincent Routhier, partner of Welch Bussieres, Frederick Bernard, investment representative for Enterprise Florida and director for Canada-Montreal Office, Alain Dumont and Patricia Baciotti of Banque Nationale Assurances and Keith Norden

Annual Florida-Japan Summit at USF's Patel Center for Global Solutions. The summit program provided an opportunity for Floridians to learn about and exchange information regarding the business, education and cultural ties between Florida and Japan through presentations and a reception in a statewide context. Keith is secretary/treasurer of the board of Florida Delegation, Southeast U.S./Japan Association. Having been involved with SEUS/Japan for over 20 years, Keith successfully assisted several large Japanese corporate locations while in Virginia. 9:00 a.m. International Motorsports Center Strategies Discussed at FPZA Invest in Volusia On June 6th, Keith gave a presentation at the Florida Planning and Zoning Association's Conference at the Plaza Resort in Daytona Beach. Keith discussed the strategies and tools economic development organizations use to attract development to the region along with Sally Sherman, Flagler County's Deputy County administrator, Helga Van Eckert, executive director of the Flagler County Department of Economic Opportunity, and Pedro Leon, business manager of Volusia's Division of Economic Development. Daytona Rising Begins this Week A new world-class experience will soon dazzle fans at the Daytona International Speedway. Susan Arledge of Arledge Partners of Dallas, along with several others, made inquiries into available Volusia properties. View Our Annual Report Vice Chair John Wanamaker chaired last month's meeting. In the June President's Report, Keith discussed projects in each of the five stages of the pipeline and updated the board with future business recruitment outreach efforts. Investor Relations Committee Chair Rick Fraser announced new private sector investors and introduced guests Randy Vostrejs and Bob Selover of

Space Coast Credit Union and Avcon Engineers & Planners. Bruce Teeters discussed the focus on private sector investors as the Investor Relations Committee continues to reach out to the community. Practitioner's Council Update New chair Tony Otte, director of Economic Development for New Smyrna Beach led last month's Practitioner's Council meeting. During the June meeting, David Goldman, professional geologist with Kimley Horn consultants gave a presentation on Brownfield assessment grants. Four cities in Volusia County were recently awarded the grants from the U.S. EPA to pay for Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments. Governments throughout Florida use state and federal brownfield programs to achieve redevelopment and environmental justice goals. About Us Team Volusia EDC is an organization dedicated to advancing economic prosperity for the region. Through public/private partnerships, we work to create jobs and enhance the quality of life in Volusia County for generations to come. Team Volusia Economic Development Corporation One Daytona Blvd., Suite 240 Daytona Beach, FL (386) The next Practitioner's Council meeting will take place July 10 at the new County Emergency Operations Center. Potential Spaceport in Volusia Along with a group of local business and political officials, Stephen traveled to Washington D.C. last month to show support of a proposed commercial spaceport in Southern Volusia County. The group met with Senator Bill Nelson, an FAA representative, NASA officials and Congressmen John

Mica and Ron DeSantis. The Honorable Deborah Denys, District 3 representative on the Volusia County Council, was also in attendance at the event which was organized by the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce. Following an 18-month long review process, the FAA will decide whether a spaceport could be permitted and licensed at the location. "A proposed site in Volusia County should help Florida regain its lead status in the commercial payload market. Commercial satellite operators want a facility that guarantees their payload will be launched on schedule and this can best be done on a site outside of a federal enclave." says Stephen. The Team Celebrates Kingspan At a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week, global company Kingspan Group PLC celebrated the designation of its DeLand manufacturing plant as North American headquarters. Stephen was on hand to show support and enthusiasm for this exciting announcement. Volusia County officials, Enterprise Florida representatives and local business leaders were also in attendance. The DeLand plant, which manufactures insulated panels, employs 132 workers and plans to increase their workforce over the next three years.
