1 UK Alternative Service Breaks Executive Team Application Thank you for your interest in applying to be a part of the UK Alternative Service Breaks (ASB) Executive Team! Through the UK Center for Community Outreach (CCO) and the national service organization Break Away, the University of Kentucky Alternative Service Breaks program connects students with service projects in communities beyond the borders of Lexington and Kentucky. We aim to provide service experiences that are educational and cultural, and to promote active citizenship among UK students, faculty, and staff. UK ASB seeks qualified and dedicated UK students to fill four positions on our UK ASB Executive Team, providing vision and leadership to the program alongside our selected Program Director: 1) Leadership Education Chair, 2) Fundraising Chair, 3) Promotions Chair, and 4) Community Development Chair. Interviews for UK ASB Executive Team positions will take place on April 11th-13th, and applicants will be notified of their invitation to interview and scheduled interview date/time on Friday, April 8th. LEADERSHIP EDUCATION CHAIR: 1) Pick one of the Eight Components of a Quality Alternative Break (Break Away, 2016), and provide an abbreviated lesson plan, including course objectives, for how you would train Site Leaders on that topic. Also discuss how you would accommodate various learning styles, including what activities you might use, or homework you might assign. PROMOTIONS CHAIR: 1) Lay out a basic UK ASB Promotions Plan for that will help the program to access a broader range of students and get more people involved in the program. Be sure to include an overall strategy, intended target audiences, methods of promotion (e.g. print, social media), and a tentative timeline. Also discuss how you would utilize the Site Leaders to support you in your promotion of the UK ASB program. FUNDRAISING CHAIR: 1) Lay out a basic UK ASB Fundraising Plan for that will help the program to better support individual participants in reaching their fundraising goals, as well as fundraising for the program overall. Be sure to include an overall strategy, methods of fundraising, potential sponsors or donors, and a tentative timeline. Also discuss how you would specifically support UK ASB participants with high levels of financial need, and engage UK ASB Site Leaders in the fundraising process. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CHAIR: 1) This relatively new position on the UK ASB Executive Team is intended to foster a greater sense of community among UK ASB participants, including connecting them locally in Lexington. What programs or events would you plan in order to accomplish these goals? Please provide a detailed description of at least three ideas for initiatives, including a basic description of each, intended goals for each, a tentative date/time/location. Also discuss what resources would be required to accomplish your initiatives, and how you would engage Site Leaders in your program or event plans.
