1 APPLICATION AND ENROLLMENT DEADLINE Please have your University of Colorado Denver (UCD) Application and your Continuing Engineering Education Program (CEEP) Class Enrollment completed by Monday, March 7, 2016, before 5pm; this is two weeks before the course start date. Visit our CEEP Website at for detailed instructions on how to complete this procedure. It is entirely free for our non-credit students to Apply to UCD and Enroll in a CEEP class. In addition, there are no penalties or fees for late applications/enrollments, however, if you do apply/enroll later than 3/7/16 the class may be full, you may miss valuable class material, and/or we may not have your class materials on-hand. However, the following is what we suggest to further the effectiveness of this course and the comprehension of topics covered: The CCENT knowledge and exam are the required foundational steps for taking any of the CCNA tests. Basic Computer Competencies: moving, creating, deleting, renaming, and copying files; Working with internet browsers; Installing software, operating systems; usage. It is Nice if You Know: UNIX commands, and DOS commands Read and work problems in the chapters pertaining to upcoming topics before coverage in class To fully benefit from our Cisco CCNA course, students should already possess certain skills gained from completing our Cisco CCENT course, or through extensive work experience WHAT THIS COURSE IS ALL ABOUT Our Computer Networking Certification course prepares students for the most current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) # Routing and Switching Exam. 3 WHERE THE VALUE IS IN THIS COURSE Do you want to pass the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA # ) Exam, or any of the Cisco Certified Network Associate exams (e.g., CCNA Routing and Switching, CCNA Data Center, CCNA Service Provider, CCNA Service Provider Operations, CCNA Video, CCNA Voice, CCNA Wireless)? Do you purely have an interest in the topics Network Associates cover? These seem like simple questions, and other reference materials will help you. However, being in an interactive classroom with fellow scholars, and undertaking and resolving everyday problems is far more effective than studying on your own. Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 The Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) is the exam associated with the CCENT certification and a tangible first step in achieving the CCNA Routing and Switching certification. Candidates can prepare for this exam by taking the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) course. This exam tests a candidate's knowledge and skills required to successfully install, operate, and troubleshoot a small branch office network. The exam includes topics on the Operation of IP Data Networks; LAN Switching Technologies; IP Addressing (IPv4 & IPv6); IP Routing Technologies; IP Services (DHCP, NAT, ACLs); Network Device Security; Basic Troubleshooting. Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 2 The Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 2 (ICND2) is the exam associated with the CCNA Routing and Switching certification. Candidates can prepare for this exam by taking the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 2 (ICND2) course. The exam tests a candidate's knowledge and skills required to successfully install, operate, and troubleshoot a small to medium-size enterprise branch network. The exam includes topics on LAN switching technologies, IP routing technologies, IP services (FHRP, syslog, SNMP v2 and v3), troubleshooting, and WAN technologies. There are many CCNA training courses, numerous preparation books, and several boot camps available, whose leading goal is simply guiding students to pass the exam. Knowing how to pass a test is worlds away from knowing how to apply the knowledge. Our program goes beyond the exam, fully preparing students for entry into the networking industry. Our institution includes real- world examples, facts, and tips, supplying our students with the confidence in their initial networking assignment. 4 YOUR INSTRUCTOR AND CREDITIALS Kenneth Sisco, B.S., CCENT, CCNA, CCDA, is a welcome addition to the CEEP program, bringing with him over 10 years of experience in the technology industry from a multitude of environments. A former consultant and network engineer, Kenneth has been a part of the design, implementation, and support of many Cisco-focused network environments including Routing and Switching, Wireless, Security, and Voice infrastructures. Reflected in his background in training positions and teaching other courses ranging from after-school technology for teens to System Administration in UC Denver s Computer Science department, Kenneth shows a great passion for teaching. Currently certified in: CCNA Routing and Switching, CCNA Voice, CCNA Security, CCDA, and numerous Cisco specialist certifications. CLASS SCHEDULE AND LOGISTICS Five Weeks, Tuesday and Thursday Evenings, March 22 April 21, 2016; from 6:30pm to 9:30pm; Held at the Auraria Campus in Downtown Denver; Detailed information on the Building and Computer Lab assignment announced to enrolled students one week before start date. TUITION AND INCLUSIONS Tuition is $1, includes: All necessary class materials (instructor s presentations, notes, problems and solutions, contact information, exam specifications, and much more) amassed on a dedicated server, already loaded with previous semester materials; updates to any/all materials posted to server on a weekly basis (any updates and/or new class materials). Thirty (30) hours of in-class/computer lab, live, interactive instruction performed by a licensed CCDA, CCNA-R/S, CCNA-S, and CCNA-V Students who attend at least eight of the ten topic sessions earn a Passing Grade (we recommend no absences), 3.0 Continuing Education Units (CEU) and 30 Professional Development Units (PDU); Sign-In on attendance roster required Students earning a Passing Grade, receive a large plaque with their Certificate of Completion from the Continuing Engineering Education Program DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE CEEP Discounts valid on CEEP Offerings only, we will not combine deals or promotions, and one discount per person, per semester; all deadlines still apply. 5 UCD APPLICATION AND CEEP CLASS ENROLLMENT PROCEDURE Apply to become a University of Colorado Denver student and then register for a non-credit course See our website for detailed instructions and a step-by-step guide (CEEP Application and Enrollment Instructions) Applying for the Non-Credit Career Track at the University of Colorado Denver is completely free, there are no fees associated with the Application and/or Enrollment Procedures. It typically takes a new student between fifteen minutes to a half-hour to go through the entire application and enrollment procedure; If you are a returning/alumni student, it may take 24- hours for the university to correctly match-up your records. Upon enrollment, the tuition charge and the university s Student Information System (SIS) fee will appear on your student account, however, payment is not due until 30-days after your enrollment. At this time, students may also set up a Deferred Payment Plan in their student account. After the Drop Deadline, which is Monday, March 7, 2016, CEEP will then place any discounts on the specified student accounts.
