1 Welcome! We appreciate your interest in Excelsior s Quality Management System. The objective of this document is to provide a quick method for you to do a preliminary quality qualification of Excelsior as a supplier. We have attempted to put together a thorough overview of our system. There is not a lot of text. We have focused on showing the elements that make up the structure of our system, the controls that are in place and the tools we use every day. From reviewing this information we hope that you will get a good sense of our quality philosophy and are willing to consider moving to the next steps toward bringing on Excelsior as a supplier. If you have any questions or wish to discuss anything in more detail please contact me. 2 AS 9100 & ISO 9001 certification Excelsior is certified as meeting the AS 9100 quality standard. AS9100 is the Aerospace Standard for Quality Management Systems. It covers the requirements for Aviation, Space and Defense organizations. AS9100 expands beyond ISO 9001 in a number of areas where it dictates a specific level of acceptance where ISO accepts the companies designated level of acceptance. One specific area is in the element of traceability. Excelsior s traceability capabilities are outlined from procurement through final inspection in this document.
3 Standards Excelsior, Inc. manages our processes in accordance with the requirements of the standards listed in the following documents: ISO 9000, Quality Management Systems - Fundamentals and Vocabulary ISO 9004, Quality Management Systems - Guidelines for Performance Improvements ISO 10005, Quality Management - Guidelines for Quality Plans ISO 10006, Quality Management - Guidelines to Quality in Project Management ISO 10007, Quality Management - Guidelines for Configuration Management ISO 10012, Quality Assurance Requirements for Measuring Equipment Metrological Confirmation System for Measuring Equipment ISO 10013, Guidelines for Developing Quality Manuals ISO/TR 10014, Guidelines for Managing the Economics of Quality ISO 10015, Quality Management - Guidelines for Training ISO 19011, Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems AS9100, Aerospace Standards Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) are conducted annually for each machine group in accordance with AIAG standards. Process Capability Studies are conducted for new parts and upon customer request.
4 A clearly documented Quality Manual describes our quality policy and general company-wide structure and procedures for maintaining the quality management system to meet customer, applicable statutory and/or regulatory, as well as, any applicable International Standard s. Excelsior, Inc. has established and maintains a quality manual that includes a) The scope of the quality management system, including details of and justification for any exclusions b) The documented procedures established for our quality management system, or reference to them, and c) A description of the interaction between the processes of our quality management system

6 Excelsior, Inc. s quality management system has been established, documented, implemented and maintained as a way to continually improve the performance of our organization. It is based upon a process approach to quality management, demonstrated by our commitment to: a) Identify the processes needed for the effective operation of our quality management system and their application throughout the organization; b) Determine the sequence and interaction of our quality management system processes; c) Determine the criteria and methods needed to ensure the effective operation and control of these processes; d) Ensure the availability of resources and information necessary to support the operation and monitoring of these processes; e) Monitor, measure and analyze these processes; and f) Implement action necessary to achieve planned results and continual improvement of these processes.
7 Outsourced processes: Excelsior, Inc. maintains control over all outsourced processes that affect product conformity with requirements and/or the quality management system. Methods for control are identified in Section 7.4 (Purchasing) and in documented procedures, where appropriate.

10 TRACEABILITY per AS9100, Check/Verify: Material call-out on Traveler is the same on green tag. Material required is for appropriate Work Order.
11 TRACEABILITY per AS9100, Check/Verify: Finished parts are packaged and labeled. This is how parts are traceable from raw material to finished parts.
12 First article inspections (FAI) - Conducted in accordance with FAI AS9102 standards. Production part approvals (PPAP) - Conducted in accordance with AIAG standards. INSPECTION per AS9100, First Piece Verifies set-up Ensures tooling is adequate Verifies that parts meet customer specifications
13 INSPECTION per AS9100, In-Process: Ensures parts meet customer specifications Detect when a problem occurs (e.g. damaged tooling/punches) Helps prevent nonconforming parts from reaching the customer
14 INSPECTION per AS9100, Final Piece: Verifies finished parts meet customer specifications Helps prevent nonconforming parts from reaching the customer
15 NOTES: 1. ALL indicates that the entire lot must be inspected 2. Critical characteristics require 100% inspection 3. Major characteristics require.65% AQL unless otherwise specified 4. Minor characteristics require 2.5% AQL unless otherwise specified 5. AQL levels for tightened and reduced inspection shall be one level above and below 0.65% AQL for major characteristics and one level above and below 2.5% AQL for minor characteristics respectively. 6. Extracted from Zero Acceptance Number Sampling Plans (ISBN )
