1 As at 27 May 2016 Entrance Requirements of University Grants Committee-funded Institutions on Mathematics Students applying for the 4-year undergraduate programmes offered by the UGC-funded institutions have to attain Level 2 for Mathematics in HKDSE (Please visit the website for general entrance requirements of individual institutions). Institutions may set additional faculty/programme requirements in consideration of the specific nature and needs of the programmes, as well as students abilities required to benefit from their studies. The additional requirements or selection criteria on the Compulsory Part (CP) and the Extended Part (EP), which is comprised of Module 1 (M1) and Module 2 (M2), of Mathematics are as follows*: Name of University Page 1. Hong Kong Baptist University (A) General Entrance Requirements For the programme Bachelor of Science, any one of the HKDSE elective subjects, including Extended Part (i.e. M1/M2), at level 2 or above is recognised as the unspecified elective subject. 5 (ii) Calculation of HKDSE Standard Score In addition to adopting HKDSE Academic Score in the admission process, some programmes may consider using HKDSE Standard Score for calculation of the admission score. In general, HKDSE Standard Score are the sum of scores of four HKDSE core subjects and one or two best elective(s), including M1/M2. If the individual programme requires specified elective subject(s), this (those) should refer to such one or two best elective(s). Back to top 5

The Chinese University of Hong Kong For 2016 entry, candidates who study 4 core and 2 elective subjects, or 4 core and 1 elective subject and the Mathematics (Extended Part) Module 1 or 2, are eligible to apply for admission to undergraduate programmes at the University. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (A) General entrance requirements Students not having the level requirement of the elective subject may be specially considered if they have attained Level 2 or above in one of the Extended Modules of Mathematics. (Not applicable to the programmes BSc(Hons) in Nursing and BSc(Hons) in Mental Health Nursing). Core subjects are given a of at least 7 whilst preferred subjects will be given a of 10. All other subjects (including relevant Applied Learning subjects) will be given a of at least 5. Programmes which have specified M1/M2 as subjects with the highest, if the weighted score of M1/M2 is higher than that of the best weighted elective under the 4X + 1 model, or the last best weighted subject under models (ii) and (iii) above, the best weighted elective or the last best weighted subject, and M1/M2 will each carry 50% weight in the admission score calculation 11

18 (B) Selection Principles and Subject Weighting for 2016 JUPAS Admissions After having fulfilled the university entrance requirements and programme entrance requirements, the undergraduate programmes will use either the '4C+2X' or the 'Best 5 subjects' principles (the combination of the best 5 subjects being not bounded to 4C+1X ) to consider candidates admission. The term subjects refer to Category A subjects and M1/M2 are excluded, unless otherwise specified. Some programmes give heavier to certain HKDSE subjects and different programmes may consider a selection of factors in addition to HKDSE results.
