OBJECTIVES The Department of Management a Marketing has these objectives for the business udent: To prepare udents to be academically sou for graduate udies a professional bodies such as MBA, CIS, IPM, a IM. To develop udents' managerial skills which enable them to meet the

MISSION STATEMENT The Department of Management a Marketing provides well-balanced a competent human resources to take up careers in organizations, as adminirators, managers, leaders, marketing professional, businessmen, entrepreneurs to all sectors of the economy namely: business, government, a non-profit organisations. The major concern of the Department is to produce thinkers, innovators, leaders a doers. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES In modern society iividuals such as reaurants' managers, production managers, marketing managers, shop managers, executive managers, deans, superinteents, ship captains, general managers or rategic managers to name a few, do important work. These iividuals may work in different organisations with different goals, but they all have one characteriic in common: they practice management. Our society a economy as a whole depe on the goals a services provided by organisations which are managed by iividuals with managerial skills. The training of sufficient managers is crucial in terms of a country's growth a wealth, especially in our society where there is a critical shortage of people with managerial skills. The degree is suitable for udents who want to follow careers in any sector of the economy as functional managers, general managers or executive managers. Professionals such as engineers, accountants, medical practitioners a lawyers need managerial skills to make progress in their respective companies or practices. The degree enables graduates to work as management consultants or to manage their own companies as entrepreneurs. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS In addition to meeting normal University admission requirements, udents are expected to have passed Mathematics at O-level with at lea a C or better grade. Students who have accounting a business udies in their O/A-level program have an added advantage. For udents coming from countries where 'A' Levels are not offered, one will be considered for admission if they qualify for entry into university in their home countries. However, if admitted, the udents mu spe the fir year in the Pre- University programme covering the following introductory courses: Introduction to Accounting, Introduction to Business, Fuamental in Information Syems a Personal Finance The Department accepts a limited number of udents based on the Mature Age Examination Entry, a/or professional qualification a related work experience. Generally, the number of such udents shall not exceed two percent of the total udent enrolment in the Department in a given year (see the section for Mature Age Entrance requirements in this Bulletin).
