2 bio In 2011, after completing my undergraduate studies I began to frequent studios more often between job searching and applying for graduate school. I mostly recorded my own versions of popular hip hop tracks or made songs for my own listening pleasure; on instrumentals I bought online. During that period I did a lot of work that made it evident that music was the avenue for me. Realizing that, I made plans to get myself into the music industry, inspired in part by the efforts being made by other young urban artists in Cameroon. My birthday gift to myself in 2013 will be a one way ticket from the USA back to Cameroon. I suspended my master s program to go back home and work on and improve my musical talent. On arriving Cameroon, my first music home was STM studios at the Solomon Tandeng Muna Foundation. I spent the next year in the studio learning to become a producer. I will later take an involuntary break when my computer and other equipment got stolen on my way home after a late night studio session. It took me about six months to purchase new equipment and get back to work. Early in 2014, I got an invitation to join underground hip hop group Public Figure having my stage debut during the 2014 edition of the MTN ifest as part of the group.our first official single as a group, Boyz don t luv yuh, produced by me is played to the public for the first time. The single, which was supposed to be released online a few days after the ifest performance never hit the airwaves due to differences among members and with our producer. The group will later split. In July 2015, I suffered another robbery. My laptop, hard drive, some equipment, and personal belongings were jacked from a hotel room in Douala. Once again I lost all my work. I have since learned not to get too attached. In September 2015, I linked up with an old friend and music producer Geega. We were able to set up a temporary working environment and together we have since been working on my debut EP, Imported Bullshit to be released in the summer of 2016.

4 personal statement I just love music. Listening before even making it. I am a fan. I like to sing and I like to be able to come up with songs for others to sing but what s interesting is I would never have considered a career as a music producer, ever, if I had not traveled to live in the U.S. Growing up, in Cameroon, music was clearly not a viable career option. I might have been messing around at home writing lyrics or hanging out in studios and emceeing at parties but only after high school did I see music production and just creative arts as something I wanted to pursue and make a life out of. I attended university in Tampa, Florida earning a bachelor s degree in Information Technology Management, cum laude. I started and quit a MBA program for obvious reasons, the clock was ticking, I had some music production to learn. In university in the U.S I felt free again and my creative self came out. My school was very big in creative arts so I would hang out with all these artsy people and filmmakers and it just got me. I started recording more. I mainly just did my own versions of popular songs and wrote a lot of what at the time could be considered poems. I mean I was in college, paying heavy to study this technology thing that I also like by the way and thinking of where I come from, my courage was still too small for a career in music not to look very risky. In the end I think it was a good thing. It allowed me to stay in school for a while and what I learned in that period gave me the courage to do music. Now I know how to use the music and my creativity to achieve more than I could have been able to achieve doing anything else alone. Growing up and learning a lot about life at this age has also been instrumental in guiding me towards my true purpose. Sonically, there is a lot of nice stuff out there but its music and we have not gone through all the combinations yet. I grew up in a culture of imports right up to entertainment. We got movies and music from France, Japan, China, India, USA, Jamaica, cote d ivoire, South Africa, wherever; in any order, no formula. Mix that with traditional Cameroon music and any musical brain is bound to process all of that in its own way and that s what I want to show to the world and that s what pushed me into production. Moving around a lot with my family at critical moments of my life has also given me much exposure to different environments, helping with my creative spectrum I m just starting out with a lot to learn and unlearn which is the nature of the business but what is important now is earning the liberty to create. The taste level in Cameroon when it comes to audiovisual arts (aesthetics in general) is very poor. There are things that socioeconomic dynamics make difficult for us to achieve but most of the poor work in terms of mixes and video quality just comes from people that don t want to, don t see the need to, or don t have the courage to push the boundaries. People are too busy copying what worked instead of finding what can work better and I m all about that next possibility; that s the attitude, that s is what I m talking about when I talk of the haut mentality.
