(Doug Philip Arena) April Sept Oct. 3-5 Oct Oct. 30-Nov. 1 Feb Feb. 27-March 1 March 6-8 April 9-11 April April June Rodeo Schedule Setting the Scene - Two rodeos remain on the Road to Casper, beginning this weekend as the Champ Factory heads to Hays, Kansas for the Fort Hays State Rodeo - Both of SWOSU s Rodeo teams are coming off second-place fi nishes at their home event last week, which match their current standings in the Central Plains Region - The Bulldogs are in action at FHSU this weekend before a trip to Guymon and the Panhandle State Rodeo next weekend, which rounds out the circuit season The Field - Each of the ten regular season rodeos will feature competition against members of the Central Plains Region, a group of 18 schools from Kansas and Oklahoma - All Rodeo events are sanctioned by the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA), which is the rodeo equivalent of the NCAA - Because of governance under the NIRA, all schools ranging from junior college to NCAA Division I compete against each other The Coach - Mike Visnieski is in his fourth season as the head coach at his alma mater in Coach V has led the Bulldog women s team to three straight Central Plains Region championships - SWOSU has had four team fi nishes in the top ten at the CNFR and six individual top ten fi nishers under the direction of Visnieski - Competed at SWOSU under legendary coach Dr. Don Mitchell from as a bull rider and team roper Coach V Preview Our group has remained confi dent and they re focused on their goals heading into the fi nal two rodeos, Coach Visnieski said. It takes the whole group to qualify as a team and we re in it to the end and we plan to do the best job we can this weekend. It is a little bit of a mental and physical drain putting on a home event, but everyone s been looking good and they ll be ready for this weekend. We re looking to fi nish strong! SWOSU Rodeo Notes - Both teams currently sit second in the Central Plains Region, the men by a wide margin while the women are fi ghting to hold off Southeastern Oklahoma State for positioning - Ceri McCaffery is currently the top All-Around Cowgirl in the region, ranked fi fth in breakaway roping and seventh in barrel racing - KeAnn Kelber joins McCaffery in the breakaway standings, currently sitting in second place and within 20 points of the regional lead - After the home rodeo, four SWOSU cowgirls are in the top 10 of goat tying: Jacoby Hotsenpiller (3rd), Mikayla Harrison (4th), Alexis Christen (6th) and Dusta Kimzey (T-8th) - Nick Shenold has climbed into third place in the region for saddle bronc riding, one spot behind teammate Dalton Davis - Justin Pollmiller remains atop the bareback standings with teammate Jake Stemo in sixth - Mickey Andrews and Colton Poole are in the top two spots of bull riding, ahead of six from OPSU Central Plains Regional #1...3rd (M) / 5th (W) Pratt CC Rodeo...2nd (M) / T-3rd (W) Oklahoma State Cowboy Stampede... 1st (M) / 2nd (W) Northwestern Oklahoma State... 4th (M) / 2nd (W) Kansas State... 1st (M) / 1st (W) Garden City CC...3rd (M) / 4th (W) Fort Scott CC... 2nd (M) / 6th (W) 43rd Annual SWOSU Rodeo... 2nd (M) / 2nd (W) Fort Hays State...Hays, Kan.
