1 Robert M. Masters Partner, Litigation Department Robert M. Masters serves as the chair of the firm s litigation practice in Washington, D.C. and is the former Global Vice Chair of the firm s Intellectual Property Group. As a partner in the Intellectual Property Group, Mr. Masters has successfully represented clients in complex patent, copyright, trade dress, and trade secret litigation matters in federal district courts across the country, with particular experience in the Eastern District of Texas, Northern District of California, and District of Delaware, before the U.S. International Trade Commission, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Masters has served as lead trial lawyer on a number of complex cases involving a broad range of advanced technologies including consumer electronics and semiconductor designs, hardware, software and apps for computers and smartphones, secured internet/network communications and protocols, financial services, telecommunications, medical devices, and sporting goods. In transactional matters, Mr. Masters has represented his clients in licensing negotiations and is often called upon to advise on matters involving the technical and financial evaluation of intellectual property assets whether to monetize a patent portfolio or as part of a merger and acquisition deal.
