CONCORD LAW SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION Larry David, Interim Dean Steve Bracci, Associate Dean of First-Year Programs Alana DeGarmo, Assistant Dean of Students Shaun Jamison, Assistant Dean of Information Services Stacey Sharp, Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Executive Juris Doctor Student Affairs Andrew Tallmer, Dean of Faculty Ted Calleton, Esq., born in 1934, is a graduate of Yale and Columbia Law School. For the three years between graduating from Yale and entering law school, he served as a lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Upon graduation from law school in 1962, he joined the law firm of O Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles, staying with O Melveny for seven years. Subsequently, he was a partner in various other law firms until his recent retirement. Ted has authored or co-authored a number of books related to his legal specialty, tax and estate planning. He has also lectured frequently and taught taxation courses at various California law schools (Loyola Law School, Golden Gate, and the of Southern California). Aside from his professional life, Ted has been a volunteer for various civic and educational projects: director of Montessori School, Incorporated; trustee, Walden School of California; trustee, Episcopalian Children s Home of Los Angeles; director, Los Angeles Master Chorale Association; member, San Gabriel Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America; and fellow, American College Trust and Estate Counsel. Throughout his career, he has received a number of honors and awards, among them, the Dana Latham Memorial Award in 1996, the Arthur K. Marshall Award in 2011, and the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award. He is also a member of Beta Theta Pi and Phi Delta Phi societies. Ted s other activities include playing with his model railroad, singing, and learning to speak Mandarin. 7 AWARDS NOTES The following awards are presented at graduation in recognition of service to the legal community, contribution to Concord Law School, and academic excellence. Kaplan Award for Legal Services The Kaplan Award for Legal Services is presented to the Concord graduate who has demonstrated excellence in professionalism and exemplary service to the community through his or her Legal Education Experience Program (LEEP) or Executive Juris Doctor Practicum externship. As externs, Concord students provide great value to the organization they serve and further the Law School s reputation in the legal community. Sue Lane Award This award is given in memory of Sue Lane, the first registrar of Concord Law School. Sue was an early champion of the Concord mission to provide access to individuals who, for reasons of work or family caregiving responsibilities, were not able to attend a brick-and-mortar law school. In her personal and professional life, Sue gave 100 percent to whatever the task was at hand. Her strong work ethic, compassionate nature, and service to the community are the basis on which this award is presented. Executive Juris Doctor Award for Academic Excellence This award is presented to the Executive Juris Doctor student in this graduating group who achieved the highest cumulative grade point average. Jack R. Goetz Award This award for academic excellence is in honor of the founding dean of Concord Law School, Jack R. Goetz.
