1 .LRN - Course Management System at AUBG What is.lrn?.lrn is a web-based portal system for course management, online communications, and collaboration. It was developed as a production unit by the Sloan School of Management, MIT, with version of.lrn being launched in Summer LRN is a course management system designed to support traditional education, by extending the class in an on-line community, giving faculty and students a way to communicate with each other online. With.LRN, students can find their daily calendar, which contains lectures, assignment deadlines, personal, and other events. Additionally, students can find information about the course teachers, a list of other students, a discussion forum to ask questions to teachers and other students, a list of frequently asked questions, course news, class info, schedule, etc. Faculty have access to do everything they need to do themselves, including approving or rejecting course participants, retrieving an old course from the archives and reusing course materials, etc..lrn at AUBG Production version of.lrn has been installed at AUBG in August With this new installation, faculty, students and staff can access the.lrn server with their AUBG usernames and passwords. After signing in to the system only approval by the administrator is needed. 2 FAQ01: What is the Address of.lrn Server at AUBG? The address of.lrn server is: FAQ02: What is my username and password for.lrn Server? Your username and password are the same as your AUBG login credentials. The password is the same as, the one you use to login on any computer at AUBG or to access your via web. Your username is also the same as your AUBG username, except that you have to add the domain you belong to after it. Examples: If you are a student at AUBG and your username is ddd020 use you should use this username: ddd020@studin.aubgin.local If you are a faculty at AUBG and your username is faculty use you should use this username: faculty@aubgin.local If you are an EMBA student or faculty at AUBG and your username is emba you should use this username: emba@sofia.aubgin.local FAQ03: How to Login.LRN? If you have already signed to.lrn: Type your Username and Password as explained in FAQ02 and Press Log In button. 2

3 If this is the first time you login: Type your Username and Password as explained in FAQ02 Click Log In button and you should see the next screen: Then you will have to wait for the administrator to approve your registration. You will be approved until the next business day. When this happens you will receive an on your AUBG address. 3

4 FAQ04: How to Join Classes and/or Communities I Want to be a Member of? Once you are logged in, click on the button Join/Drop a Class or Community Grout to join a class or community group. On the next page Find a Group (class or community) you want to join and press Join or Request Membership button in the Actions column. (Request action means that class membership request should be approved by your professor) 4

5 FAQ05: How to Request a New Class/Communities to be created? The Site Wide Administrator handles class and community requests. To request a new class send to dotlrn-help@aubg.bg or to Asen Kalenderski asen@aubg.bg. FOR A CLASS TO BE CREATED PLEASE INCLUDE: 1.The full title of the course, including the section letter Example: ECO 101a - Principles of Microeconomics 2. If you teach more than one section of the same course, please specify your preference and choose one of the options: (a) One dotlrn portal for all sections of the same course, or (b) Separate dotlrn portals for each section of the same course 3. If you taught the same course at AUBG the previous semester using dotlrn, please choose one of the options: (a) I want to use the same teaching content I have already created, so copy/clone my course materials to the new course portal for this semester (b) I want completely empty new course portal for this semester You will be notified by when the shell is created. TO REQUEST A NEW COMMUNITY: Send to asen@aubg.bg. Include the name of the community, a brief description of its purpose, the faculty or staff advisor, the name(s) of any persons who will need to be administrators of this community. Then, follow this link: to print and fill in the application form. After you are ready with the form bring it to the OCC in Main Building Room 118. Your community will be created and you will be notified by when the community shell has been created. 5
