Shore Chief Executive Officer Medshore s commitment to the medical transportation industry and to high quality patient care is reflected in every aspect of our organization. Whether its from our System Status Controllers in the communications center, paramedics/emt's in the field, maintenance technicians in the vehicle maintenance center, or the customer service representatives in the billing services, our team is dedicated to serving you. Over 100,000 patients a year already trust Medshore to provide high quality service. You have my assurance that we will provide that same service to you The mission of Medshore Ambulance Service is to Provide the highest quality patient care, that is cost effective to the communities we serve, while promoting company and individual growth. While all ambulance agencies are required to be licensed and approved by the State of South Carolina, accreditation goes one step further. National Accreditation is the Gold Standard, which is renewed every three years, that confirms that we excel in all areas of prehospital care, including using state of the art vehicles and equipment as well as empowering highly skilled staff to provide the best patient care. The CAAS accreditation assures our patients, physicians, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and customers of our commitment to quality patient care, response time compliance, and quality customer service. EMS SYSTEM OF THE YEAR In March 2002, Medshore Ambulance Service was awarded the South Carolina Large EMS System of The Year for 2001 by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control-EMS Division. 4 MEDSHORE S COMMMUNICATION CENTER READY TO ANSWER YOUR CALL Medshore s computer aided communications center is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with friendly, courteous and specially trained personnel. Through a technique known as System Status Management, our System Status Controllers maximize the availability of Medshore s resources for the fastest possible response, for both emergency and non-emergency requests. Each System Status Controller is Certified through the National Academy of Emergency Medical Dispatch and most are Emergency Medical Technicians with several years field experience. Utilizing nationally standardize dispatch protocols, our System Status Controllers can determine the appropriate resources to dispatch to your request and begin providing prearrival instructions to the caller (if needed), even before the arrival of our highly trained Paramedics and EMT s. Meeting all of your medical care and transportation needs only requires ONE phone call. RESPONSE TIME COMPLIANCE Clinical evidence supports the concept that expeditious response is a key component of Quality Medical care. and Customer Service Medshore has provided 911 coverage under contractual agreement with Anderson County South Carolina for over a 25 years. In compliance with national standards, we have maintained a response time standard of eight minutes and fifty-nine seconds to life threatening emergencies with a 90% compliance rate on a consistent basis. Medshore s average response time for emergencies is 5.4 minutes, a feat unmatched in South Carolina. Medshore Ambulance Service Maintains a database of time and locations where the community will most often require ambulance service. Our computer aided dispatch (CAD) program allows us to effectively base vehicles at strategic locations and to efficiently dispatch personnel. System Status Management allows Medshore to pre-schedule non-emergency and inter-facility patient transports in advance, while maintaining adequate coverage for emergency responses. This development expertise has enabled our company to achieve uniformly faster response times, with significantly lower operating cost Lower operating cost means lower cost to the communities and our customers, while providing the highest standards in emergency care. SPECIALIZED RESPONSE SERVICES In addition to our medical skills and transportation knowledge, Medshore also provides rescue and disaster response services with specialized rescue vehicles and a team of highly trained and dedicated employees. Disaster Response: Medshore s Disaster management experience is extensive. Medshore currently staffs an ambulance task force that consists of over Fifty (50) personnel and Twenty- Five (25) ambulance that respond under agreement with Federal Authorities and will deploy within 3 hours notification. Medshore is considered one of the key Task Force and has been to every major disaster since In 2009, Medshore was chosen as one of the primary response teams to provide EMS assistance in Washington, DC during the Presidential Inauguration. Personnel assign to the Medshore Special Operations Response Team are considered the elite. Personnel are selfsustaining for fourteen (14) days and have evacuated hundreds of patients and coordinated facility evacuations for some of the largest facilities in the disaster stricken area. Medshore personnel have spent months providing services to these areas. Hurricanes: Andrew, Floyd, Katrina, Rita, Dean, Ike, Gustav, Irene. Isaac and Sandy, MEDSHORE WAS THERE!
5 YOUR IN GOOD HANDS Medshore Ambulance Service believes that one of the most important aspects of our organization is employing the right people. Medshore has a responsibility to ensure that personnel that serve you, are knowledgeable and of the highest ethical and professional standards. Every applicant at Medshore undergoes an extensive: 1. Personal Interview 2. Written Examination 3. Character Reference Check 4. Criminal Background/ Medicare Fraud Abuse Check 2. Drug Testing 3. Driving Record Review 4. Department of Transportation Physical 5. T.B. Testing Upon completion of the aforementioned items, the applicant is scheduled for an orientation program conducted by the Compliance & Professional Standards Department. The orientation program encompasses classroom and third person ride-a-long with a Medshore Field Training Officer. Each new employee is on a six-month probationary status and evaluated at 90 days and six months to determine their suitability. Professional training is an ongoing process at Medshore. All EMT s and Paramedics must recertify every three years. Medshore conducts a South Carolina State approved In-service Education Program that exceeds the National Registry and State recertification requirements. All training is conducted in our state of the art training center on a monthly basis. In addition to maintaining their state and/or national registry certification, Medshore requires all Paramedics and EMT s to maintain several specialty certifications. PART OF THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE Our vehicles are the most obvious evidence that Medshore Ambulance Service is at work in your community. But look around and you will see us at work in many other ways. Medshore sponsors a Reserve Program for adults, an Explorer Post for youths, and a shadow program in conjunction with several area high schools. These programs allow participants to ride with field crews and gain exposure to the field of Emergency Medical Services. Medshore provides speakers or demonstrations to many civic and professional organizations, schools, churches and/or other entities. Our speakers are very experienced and have a tremendous background in EMS education, as well as public speaking. Presentations explore topics such as Medshore services, EMS careers, advanced medical directives, preparing for emergencies, and more. Educating our children about safety can be challenging. Medshore utilizes Andy the talking, moving ambulance robot to make it fun to learn about safety. Medshore Ambulance Service conducts over a 1000 car safety seat checks a year in our Greenville Operations.
