3 Company Profile Kathrein Inc., Scala Division, is a leading manufacturer of professional antenna and filter systems for communications and broadcasting, serving commercial and governmental markets throughout North America and the Caribbean region. The company is a member of the Kathrein Group, the world s oldest and largest source of professional antenna and filter products for communication and broadcast applications. Kathrein-Scala is ISO9001-certified for quality standards and systems and ISO14001-certified for environmental standards and is in voluntary compliance with EU Directive EC for Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS). The company has been producing lead-free products since May of 06. Our product groups include professional antennas, RF filters, and accessories for a wide range of applications, including: l Wireless mobile communications l TV and FM Broadcasting l Wireless Internet l Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint data and control networks l Land-mobile radio communications systems of all types Scala Electronic Corporation was founded in California in 1954 and operated there until 1979 when operations were moved from the San Francisco area to Medford, Oregon. In 1985, Scala began its alliance with the Kathrein Group of companies, the worldwide leader in professional antenna systems, by distributing certain Kathrein antennas for the emerging cellular market. Since then, Scala has been fully integrated into the Kathrein Group. In addition to its own designs, the company builds antennas having their origins at Kathrein, but have been redeveloped for the North American marketplace. With Kathrein firmly positioned as the world s oldest and largest source of antenna and filter products for wireless communications and broadcast technology, it made good sense to align Scala with that visibility and the company became Kathrein Inc., Scala Division on January 1, 00. In Kathrein-Scala opened a second facility in Richmond Virginia to better serve our customers in the eastern region of the country. Over the last six decades Kathrein Inc., Scala Division has earned a reputation for products and service of the highest quality as well as fair and ethical business practices and we remain dedicated to these principles. Through our full integration into the Kathrein Group we are able to draw on greater resources and expand our range of products and services while maintaining the traditional Scala service and quality which our customers have come to expect. i

153 Technical Information Dual Polarized Base Station Antennas For Polarization Diversity Systems It is well known that in a cellular network, mobile phones have considerably lower transmittal power than the transmitters of the base stations. This means that the transmission from the mobile phone to the base station (uplink) is much more unfavorable in relation to the transmission from the base station to the mobile phone (downlink). To compensate this, a way of improving the quality of reception at base stations had to be found. Due to the multi-path signal propagation of radio signals, which occurs in urban areas, so called Space Diversity Reception has been introduced which provides the best results in the field. Space Diversity Reception is based on the following idea: The signal transmitted by a mobile phone is reflected in the propagation field and reaches the base station via different paths and phase angles. As a result, the signal at the base station receiving antenna is the sum or various vectors with different amplitudes, phases and polarizations. If two receiving antennas are separated horizontally from each other, (preferable to vertical separation), then it is highly likely that one of them will provide the required signal strength (principle of uncorrelated signals). A logic unit ensures that the higher signal level of the two receiving antennas is fed into the receiving systems. Depending on the characteristics in the propagation area, the use of a Space Diversity Receiving System will produce a diversity gain of to 5 db, as compared to using only one single receiving antenna. Dual Polarized Base Station Antennas For Polarization Diversity Systems (cont) Extensive investigations and trials have shown that so-called Polarization diversity Reception is equivalent to or almost equivalent to Space Diversity Reception. Polarization Diversity Reception means that the reception levels of two orthogonally polarized antennas are compared and then the stronger signal is led to the receiver. The clear development objective was to design dual-polarized antennas that have the same outer dimensions as single polarized antennas and with equivalent gain figures and radiation patterns. The number of individual antennas can thereby be considerably reduced, resulting in improved optical appearance, reduced space requirements and with less mechanical hardware. 2 λ Tx Rx 1 + Rx 2 Fig. 2: Sector antenna system with Polarization Diversity Reception - 2 antennas, feeders 6 9 λ 6 9 λ Duplexer Rx 1 Tx Rx 2 Fig. 1: Sector antenna system using Space Diversity Reception - antennas, feeders The space diversity antenna configuration certainly provides good electrical results, but the number of antennas required is a negative factor with regard to the resulting optical appearance, the increased space requirements and the greater amount of mechanical hardware and feeder cables needed. In view of the difficulties getting construction permits from the authorities concerned and approval from property owners for the installation of antenna systems, an advanced system with a low-level optical impact had to be found. It can generally be said, that the isolation between neighboring transmitting antennas, as well as between a transmit and a receive antenna must amount to at least 0 db in order to avoid: l interfering intermodulation products l blocking of the receivers Tx 1 Rx 1 Rx 2 Fig. : Sector antenna system with Polarization Diversity Reception using a duplex filter 1 antenna, feeders, 1 duplexer 147
154 Technical Information Dual Polarized Base Station Antennas For Polarization Diversity Systems (cont) l the activation of the transmitter s VSWR monitoring system by an adjacent transmitter This requirement for 0 db isolation also applies to dual-polarized antennas. Initially dual-polarized antennas with horizontal and vertical polarization were preferred since this antenna concept easily provides the required 0 db isolation figure between the horizontally polarized system and the vertically polarized system. Dual Polarized Base Station Antennas For Polarization Diversity Systems (cont) This concept is easy to understand if one considers the angles of orientation when a slanted dipole is viewed from different perspectives. A dipole, which is set at a slant of +45 when viewed from the front, will appear to be vertically polarized when viewed from the side and will then appear at a slant of -45 when viewed from the rear. Practical results with horizontal / vertical dual-polarized antennas are fairly positive. However, there is also a weakness. Since the mobile antennas (i.e. on cars or mobile phones) mainly operate in a vertically polarized mode, the propagation efficiency is more favorable to the vertical system of a horizontal/vertical dual-polarized base station antenna than to the horizontal system. Thus horizontal polarization is not really suitable for transmitting purposes. However, with +45 /-45 dual-polarization antennas, both systems are equivalent with respect to their propagation efficiency. The two systems can therefore be used with good results for transmit and receive applications. Furthermore, this antenna concept allows simultaneous transmission from two transmitters without the use of a transmitter combiner. vertically polarized -45 polarized +45 polarized Dipole Fig. 5: Varying polarization of a dipole set at a slant of 45 The vector of the radiated electrical field strength is fully described by a pair of orthogonal vector components; in other words, the vector is described by a rectangular coordinate system. According to Fig. 6, any field strength vector can be described either by a coordinate system, defined by the E v - vector and the E H - vector, or with the same preciseness by a coordinate system defined by the E vector and the E vector. 155 Technical Information Dual Polarized Base Station Antennas For Polarization Diversity Systems (cont) This means that the exactness of the 45 polarization of an x-polarized antenna can be tested by measuring the radiation pattern in vertical polarization and in horizontal polarization or, alternatively by measuring the radiation pattern in +45 polarization and in -45 polarization (Fig. 7 and Fig. 8). If the field strength vector is exactly +45, the co-polar value is 0% and the cross-polar value is 0%. In other words, if the polarization is almost 45, the radiation patterns measured in vertical polarization E v and in horizontal polarization E H will also be quite close to each other, or referring to the second coordinate system, the cross-polar value E -45 of the field strength will be much smaller than the co-polar one E +45. If the polarization is exactly 45, the half power beam widths of the radiation patterns measured in vertical polarization and in horizontal polarization are all of the same value. 156 Technical Information Advanced X-POL Antenna Standards Advanced X-POL Antenna Standards (cont) Kathrein Scala Division X-Pol antennas for polarization diversity represent the latest development stage in antenna technology. An increasing number of network operators realize the advantage of installing three dual +/-45 degree polarized antennas for a complete three sector site, where previously six or nine vertically polarized antennas had to be installed. For polarization diversity to function properly it is very important that the different polarized signals are as independent as possible from each other (principle of uncorrelated signals). The most important point is the Cross-polar ratio (CPR), i.e. the ratio of the signal levels of similar polarizations compared to dissimilar polarizations. The CPR should be quoted for the whole sector width (+/-60 degree), not just for the main radiating direction. The antenna gain is already considerably reduced at the sector edges due to the horizontal pattern, therefore a CPR as high as possible is desired. The system suppliers demand at least db for +/-60 degree from the main direction. Kathrein Scala Division X-Pol antennas more than fulfil these requirements. Kathrein X-Pol Panels 800/900 MHz Typical Cross Polar Ratio (CPR) CPR CPR CPR Half-power Main ± ±6 Beam Width direction sector sector db db 15 db 9 db 15 db 12 db Kathrein X-Pol Panels 1800 MHz Typical Cross Polar Ratio (CPR) antenna are inserted. There are no drill-holes at all in the profile which is closed by two sealed end caps. This completely closed design offers ideal permanent protection against environmental influences and also increases the mechanical stability of the antennas. Apart from the existing comprehensive range of X-Pol antennas which can be found in our catalogues, we now also have low gain versions for 800/900 MHz band with a length of 26 inches (656 mm). Advantages of Kathrein s dipole X-Pol type antennas compared to typical patch printed or circuit board solutions: 1. Excellent cross polar ratio over azimuth. The dipole design delivers remarkable cross polar ratio not only in the main direction but also across the complete sector. 2. Low intermodulation products. Unlike printed circuit antennas, the intermodulation products are typically -150 dbc (2X25 watts).. Low internal losses. The cable harness provides a low loss power distribution, which enables shorter antenna lengths. 4. High isolation. Patent pending decoupling elements ensure an isolation between the two inputs of a min. >0 db (typically 5 db). 5. Constant electrical performance under bad weather conditions. Due to the dipole design, rain, ice and snow have little effect on the electrical parameters such as VSWR, isolation and cross polar ratio. CPR CPR CPR Half-power Main ± ±6 Beam Width direction sector sector 65 db 16 db 14 db 9 17 db 1 db db Many of the X-Pol antennas on the market are of patch technology on printed circuit boards for power-splitting purposes. Kathrein, for many years, has used the proven dipole-type technology together with low-loss cable harnesses, which clearly offers more opportunities for perfecting certain antenna characteristics. We present the new, Kathrein Panels as our concept for the 800/900 MHz X-Pol antenna line. We adapted the excellent and well proven mechanical design used in our line of 1800/1900 MHz antennas. Instead of a fiberglass cover screwed and sealed to an aluminum back-plate, the radome now consists of a closed, self-supporting fiberglass profile into which the metal parts of the 150

(7 2)+0 = 5 tan(5) = = 286 feet As a safety precaution to our customers, we would like to point out that certain risks may arise when products are used under extraordinary operating conditions. Wind Survival Ratings as shown in this catalog represent a mechanical design based on environmental conditions as stipulated in TIA-222-G-2 (December 09) and/or ETS which include the static mechanical load imposed on an antenna by wind at maximum velocity. The static mechanical load f is found by the formula as follows: Where: f A V k f=kav 2 is the load is the projected area of the antenna is the wind velocity is a constant unique to each antenna Once the load f is found the resulting stress is found for each antenna with its mounting system. The stress at which failure occurs corresponds to a wind speed which is termed Wind survival. 0 feet 70 degrees Operating conditions such as icing or exceptional dynamic stress (such as strain caused by oscillating support structures) may exceed the survival rating and result in the breakage of the product or even cause it to break away from its support and fall to the ground. 158 Technical Information Comparison of Mechanical and Electrical Downtilt Mechanical Downtilt Electrical Downtilt Colors indicate mechanical and electrical downtilt angles Mechanical l The downtilt angle varies over the horizontal beamwidth. Patterns measured ±9 from the center of the beam have decreasing tilt angle until there is no tilt 9 from the main beam. l The horizontal half-power beam width increases with greater downtilt angle. l The resulting gain reduction depends on azimuth direction. Electrical l There is uniform downtilt over the whole azimuth range. l The horizontal half-power beamwidth is independent of the downtilt angle. l There is identical gain reduction in all azimuth directions. 152

161 Technical Information Directional Antennas In Front of Reflecting Surfaces Directional Antennas In Front of Reflecting Surfaces (cont) Antennas mounted in front of a reflecting surface, like a building face or other large conductive surface, will cause the horizontal radiation pattern to change. Part of the radiated energy is reflected and coupled with the reflecting surfaces. Little to no change is noticed in a reflective environment to the horizontal pattern, when the center of the main lobe is perpendicular to the reflecting wall. Deviation from this angle results in more power being radiated towards the wall, causing greater reflections and coupling with more distortion of the horizontal radiation pattern. The reflecting surface depicted in the attached diagrams consists of a concrete block wall. The panel antennas have 18 dbi of gain and a 65 horizontal half-power beamwidth. The resulting patterns shown in the following diagrams are for various distances (d) in front of the wall and angles (α) at a frequency of 1850 MHz. Gain variances reflect changes to the horizontal pattern. Conclusion: When using an antenna with degree halfpower beamwidth, the skew angle can be up to. Antennas with 9 should be at a skew angle of no more than 15. In all instances, the distance from the building should be kept to a minimum.
