3 What is KnowledgePoint? KnowledgePoint is the blended learning programme dedicated and tailored to Accounting Technicians Ireland students which offers supplementary learning supports in key course areas. It brings together the best of both face-to-face and online learning at affordable prices. You can access KnowledgePoint services through the TouchPoint portal and you will have a choice of two learning approaches: Online Tutorials Workshops (both live and recorded) Online Tutorials There are a total of 69 Online Tutorials available, covering a range of key topics. Online Tutorials are anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour in duration and viewing them is virtually the same as being in the room with the lecturer. Keeping pace is easy because video, audio and slides are all synchronised in real-time. In addition, you can download the expertly produced notes which accompany each topic. Workshops Workshops will take place in March and April 2013 and are half day classroom based sessions. They are designed to help you develop an in-depth understanding of key course topics. Workshops give you the option to attend a face-to-face session and learn from the experts. In addition, you also receive the recorded version of the Workshop after the session, allowing you to review the material as often you like in the run up to your exams. 1

Niall Cribben Correction of Errors and Suspense Accounts 13th April 2.00pm to 5.30pm You will gain in-depth knowledge of the essentials of suspense accounts and how to deal with correction of errors, while focusing on examination technique, and how to structure answers in this interactive session. Taxation (ROI) Income Tax Computations 9th March 9.30am to 1.00pm In this Workshop you will review exam style questions for income tax computations, including Case I/II, BIK calculations, pension relief calculation, married couples, and adjustment to profits for the calculation of Schedule D Case I/II income. Yann Harrison VAT and PAYE 6th April 2.00pm to 5.30pm This Workshop will focus on VAT and PAYE calculations and help you get to grips with exam style questions for both of these two major topics. 6
9 Business Management The Foundation of Business, Management and Ethics 23rd March 2.00pm to 5.30pm You will cover 3 core elements of the Business Management syllabus in this Workshop - business, management and ethics. This session will help you achieve a deeper understanding of PESTLE & SWOT analysis and major management theories. Law & Ethics (ROI) Contract Law 9th March 2.00pm to 5.30pm Get to grips with the core aspects of contract law including nature of a contract, essential elements of a contract, contract terms, exemptions and associated rules and legislation. Muireann O Neill Management Accounting Standard Costing 13th April 9.30am to 1.00pm This interactive session deals with the calculation of variances and the preparation and explanation of variance analysis reports, a key element of the Management Accounting syllabus. Bernard Vallely Advanced Financial Accounting Statement of Cash Flow, Working Capital, Interests and Dividends 23rd March 9.30am to 1.00pm Gain an deeper understanding of operating cash flows, the cash implications of changes in working capital, payments to acquire non-current assets, interest, dividends and tax in this interactive session. Barry Smith Ratios and Double Entry 6th April 9.30am to 1.00pm This session concentrates on 2 essential concepts of accounting: ratios and double entry. You will cover the calculation and analysis of ratios, identifying relevant ratios to support analysis and how to tackle theory and practical application of double entry. 8
11 Advanced Taxation (ROI) Advanced Income Tax 6th April 2.00pm to 5.30pm This session will deal with income tax computations at an advanced level and help you get to grips with this important course topic. Anne Tynan Corporation Tax 13th April 2.00pm to 5.30pm In this interactive Workshop you will look at corporation computations, losses, dividends, withholding tax, and close companies. You ll also receive advice on exam technique and preparation. 9
