1 Pursuant to Article 17 of the Statute of the Foundation Zajednički put, the Director of the Foundation Zajednički put on March 5, 2015 proposes to the Board of Directors for adoption: OPERATIONAL PLAN OF THE FOUNDATION ZAJEDNIČKI PUT FOR 2015 The Foundation Zajednički put makes an Operational Plan for each year of the Strategic Plan. This Operational Plan determines activities, as well as necessary resources and goals that will be achieved thereby. The activities foreseen by the Plan are in accordance with the strategic goals and are based on the yearly financial plan of the Foundation. Strategic goal I. INSTITUTIONAL CARE FOR THE ELDERLY To provide accommodation capacities (20-30 persons) owned by the Foundation Zajednički put that meet modern standards for the senior citizens of the City of Zagreb and the members of the Foundation. Specific goal 1: To carry out the preparation phase of the activities (investment/idea) for the construction of accommodation capacities owned by the Foundation. RESULTS: Preparatory phase of the activities realized. - Continuously monitor the situation and actively prepare for a future time when the conditions will be met for the building of the facilities owned by the Foundation - Preparatory activities project development, compliance with legal provisions - Carrying out financial assessment of the investment/project based on given guidelines of accommodation capacities and associated facilities for senior citizens - Providing funding Specific goal 2: 1
2 To improve permanently the quality of services of the users of the Housing Units Community of the Foundation Zajednički put, as well as promote and expand such form of housing for the elderly RESULT: Occupancy of the Housing Units Community is 100%. All the users of the Housing Units Community use a social device of the association Prisutnost and required services are provided. The users use regular and occasional activities of the Senior Center tailored to their needs and interests. The employees of the Foundation communicate regularly with the users and monitor their physical and psychological status and cooperate with their family members. The selection of the most appropriate solution for building or finding a space for the expansion of the existing project of the Housing Units Community of the Foundation Zajednički put. - Informing the public and promoting the advantages of life in the Housing Units Community - Continuously monitoring and contacting the users and their family members - Informing potential users - Further organization and development of services, and contracting with service providers and users thereof - Maintaining the space of the Housing Units Community - Finding possibilities for the expansion of accommodation capacities of the Housing Units Community - Keeping occupancy of the capacities of the Housing Units Community at 100% at all times - When necessary, activating the verbal agreement with the Retirement Home Park on contracting the use of space for the needs of the users of the Housing Units Community in case of a change in their physical and psychological status, where they are unable to live independently Specific goal 3: To fulfill the obligations of the Lifelong Caregiver Contracts RESULT: all contractual obligations of the signed contracts have been fulfilled. - Providing adequate care of the recipient, in accordance with the signed Lifelong Caregiver Contract - Using the funds received from the rental for the purposes of the Foundation 2
3 - According to needs and possibilities, entering into new Contracts with potential recipients of support - Informing and promoting the advantages and possibilities of entering into Lifelong Caregiver Contract in the public Strategic goal II. NON-INSTITUTIONAL CARE FOR THE ELDERLY To participate in the improvement of the holistic care for the senior citizens of the City of Zagreb through supporting, organizing and implementing projects and programs of the improvement of health, social services, cultural, entertainment, sports, recreational and other activities intended for the senior citizens of the City of Zagreb, and promote active ageing. Specific goal 1: To raise additional funds and provide financial support to non-profit organizations / associations / institutions which directly help and provide services to the elderly of the City of Zagreb RESULT: Additional funds were raised and directed at further development of the existing and/or new projects of the Foundation. Financial support was provided to non-profit organizations which directly help the elderly of the City of Zagreb, according to the financial possibilities of the Foundation. - Finding possibilities for raising additional funds - Contacting organizations and companies with open requests for donations, presenting the work of the Foundation and the projects for which the funds are raised - Providing organizational assistance in sustainability of the programs of financed projects Specific goal 2: Organization, implementation and co-financing of counseling activities, improvement of health, cultural, entertainment, creative, sports, recreational and other activities for the senior citizens of the City of Zagreb. RESULTS: Occasional and regular activities and the programs of the Senior Center of the Foundation were carried out at the Senior Center and at the local city government district of Trešnjevka. The cooperation in implementing the activities with civil society organizations and institutions in the local community and the City of 3
4 Zagreb was realized and co-financed. Achieving greater visibility of the work of the Senior Center in the wider community and introducing potential users with the programs and possibilities available to them. The number of the users of the Senior Center who use our services on a regular basis is 300 people a week. - Continuing with existing activities and designing/organizing new activities and new attractive programs for the users of the Senior Center introducing new creative workshops, another foreign language group, two more groups for the IT workshop as well as a workshop in music therapy, and organizing lectures on health and illness prevention - Continuing with the work of health counseling and organizing preventive health checks - Expanding users network - Developing cooperation with non-profit organizations / associations / institutions in helping and providing care services to the elderly in the City of Zagreb - Organizing activities at the Senior Center and at the local city government district of Trešnjevka - Ensuring visibility and promoting the Senior Center through the website, organizing exhibitions of our users works, organizing events to mark important international dates - Empowering and involving a large number of senior citizens as holders of the activities at the Senior Center the aim is to engage the participants of the computer workshop as tutors of the beginner s workshop on using the Internet, as well as their participation in our web portal - Organization of a journalist workshop for the needs of the portal - Continuing cooperation with the Department of Gerontology at the Study Center of Social Work, and organizing practical training for social work students at the Senior Center - Coordinating the activities - Monitoring the implementation of activities at the Senior Center and evaluation - Organizing training for older and younger volunteers of the Senior Center - Co-financing and financing activities - Organizing two one-day excursions with the users of the Senior Center - Organization of the fair Right Age in partnership with Zagreb Fair and the City Department of Social Welfare and Disability Specific goal 3: 4
5 Organization, implementation and co-financing of psychological counseling activities, the activities of the Counseling of social protection and legal assistance with the goal of improving the quality of life of the elderly. REULSTS: Regular counseling activities carried out (counseling of social protection, legal counseling and psychological counseling). The improvement of work of the psychological counseling through further engagement, education and monitoring the psychologists-volunteers who allow further expansion of the work area of psychological counseling for the elderly. - Organizing and conducting psychological counseling services - Stabilization and maintenance of the existing network of psychological services with the elderly within the Foundation with the possibility of expanding the network of services and users - Promoting psychological counseling of the Foundation Zajednički put at psychology colleges, in professional circles and the wider public - Organizing and implementing additional psychological training for volunteers with special focus on cognitive empowerment, group work, psychological counseling and other areas of the psychology of ageing - Including new volunteers in active participation in the psychological counseling - Investigating whether there are organizations and institutions in Croatia and abroad, and possibly bringing them together and starting a cooperation - Monitoring and evaluating the activities of the psychological counseling - Translating, publishing and promoting the book Counselling Older Clients by Ann Orbach - Organization of the workshops for the 8 th Week of Psychology, as follows: Workshop Meet your memory in order to love it more for senior citizens at the Senior Center at Jarun How We Work with the Elderly Psychologists-Volunteers Experiences The transfer of knowledge at the Senior Center at Jarun for experts in the helping professions - Active involvement in the program activities of the 23 rd Annual Conference of Croatian Psychologists (Foundation s psychologist is a member of the Program Committee) on The Psychology of Ageing a Look into the Future, which will be held November in Šibenik - Active participation at the commercial fair Right Age - Organizing and implementing the services of legal counseling within the Counseling of social protection - Providing attorney assistance if necessary - Providing counseling services of social protection 5
6 Strategic goal III. DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH ACTIVITIES Specific goal 1: To collect data about the feeling of loneliness due to the age and place of residence (Retirement home or single households) with the purpose of directing the activities of the counseling. Results: Overall, the research on a sample of 85 senior citizens was conducted. During the reporting period of the fiscal year 2013 the process of collecting data was stopped due to a more intensive engagement and development of the Foundation in other areas and projects. Specific goal 2: Based on the collected data on the human rights of senior citizens in Zagreb it is necessary to organize and improve further the work of the Development Center for Empowering the Rights of the Elderly of the City of Zagreb. It is necessary to conduct qualitative research on the human rights of the elderly in Zagreb with the purpose of in-depth analysis of the situation. It is necessary to continue and finish the qualitative research on dignity, human rights and quality of life of senior citizens in Zagreb, with the purpose of in-depth analysis of the situation. Based on the collected data and last year s experience, the work of the Development Center for Empowering the Rights of the Elderly of the City of Zagreb shall be further improved and organized. In 2014 the Foundation, in collaboration with the researchers from the Research and Training Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Citizenship of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Social Work of the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, and the Department of Psychology at the Center for Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, started a research project Narratives of Dignity in Old Age. In the first half of the year pilot research was conducted and a measuring instrument (semi-structured interviews) was designed, and final research began in June So far, 29 in-depth interviews with individual informants have been conducted, 27 of which have been processed (transcribed). RESULTS: In 2015 the Foundation will, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary research team, continue and finish the research project: 5 more in-depth interviews with informants will be conducted, and 7 processed (transcribed). Then the collected data will be coded and analyzed, and the entire research will result in the so-called 6
7 narrative report, consisting of scientifically analyzed life stories of the informants, as well as a complete view of ageing by the senior citizens. - Conducting the remaining 5 in-depth interviews with the informants, and processing (transcribing) the recorded interviews - Coding and analyzing the collected data - Writing, publishing and presenting a scientific publication about the research - Looking into the possibility of publishing the results of the research in national and international professional journals, as well as presenting the research at national and international scientific conferences - Organizing and implementing the activities at the Development Center and local community, depending on the needs and possibilities - Organizing public forums in local committees of the City of Zagreb with the goal of informing senior citizens of their rights and raising the quality of life of the elderly population of the City of Zagreb - Improving the activities of the Development center with the involvement of a large number of volunteers - Training volunteers to design and organize public forums - Publishing a Guide for identification, implementation and protection of the rights of the elderly - Raising public awareness about the work of the Development Center - Increasing the visibility of the work of the Development Center through a variety of media and activities - Exploring the possibilities of financial support for the implementation of the activities of the Development Center and taking necessary steps to realize them - Investigating whether there are similar centers, organizations and institutions in Croatia and abroad, and possibly bringing them together and starting a cooperation - Monitoring and evaluating the activities of the Development Center Specific goal 3: Implementation of the project of communicational and developmental capacities of the Foundation To find partners within the local community and together with them continue to apply project tenders that cover areas related to the project (seniors, work, education, culture, information, intergenerational cooperation) RESULT: The implementation of certain segments of the project Right time of communicational and developmental capacities of the Foundation 7
8 - Developing individual segments of the project Right time and focusing on the development of several promising areas - Investigating the possibility of financing regardless of the application of the integrated project Right time to EU fund tenders, allocating segments and developing them independently - Maintaining the existing good cooperation with the institutions of the local community, the City Department of Social Welfare and Disability, the Regional Office of the Croatian Employment Bureau in Zagreb - Possibly obtaining the support of other institutions of the local community and exploring the possibility of new partnerships and joint tender applications - Finding professional organizations and associations as stakeholders in specific areas - Active involvement of the employees of the Foundation in the implementation of the project Increasing Capacities for Local Community Foundations Development as a Stakeholder of a Vibrant Civil Society, registered for IPA 2012 Fostering Innovative Forms of Philanthropy in Local Communities to Support Sustainability of Civil Society in partnership with Ceraneo Center for Development of Non-Profit Organizations. The results are expected no later than the summer of After that, the project could start with implementation. The project: Web portal for senior citizens To continue actively with the independent web portal for the elderly. The portal was in the final stages of programming, design and technological aspect at the end of In 2015, we are planning to launch the portal, To design and start an independent web portal designed for senior citizens, where all the activities carried out by the Senior Center will be refreshed and the values of active ageing, lifelong learning, volunteerism and philanthropy will be advocated. The portal would also serve to promote the work of the Development Center for Empowering the Rights of the Elderly and dignified ageing. - Forming the editorial board of the web portal: Engaging experts, journalists and associates who will form a team of people actively involved in forming and adding content to the portal Super Seniori, all in accordance with the guiding idea of the project: o to provide technical prerequisites for a greater step towards a faster and more efficient distribution of information for the elderly and the general public, thus encouraging lifelong learning, computer literacy and the acquisition of new skills and knowledge specific to today s 8
9 society, as well as the development of social entrepreneurship, in which senior citizens would be actively involved o to distribute information about news in the area of civil society, with a focus on the development of philanthropy and foundations Co-organization of a commercial fair at the Zagreb Fair, Right Age - Organization of a gerontological debate and/or roundtable at the fair - Presentation of the book Counselling Older Clients by Ann Orbach - Participation in the organization of the entire preliminary and accompanying program which, apart from the gerontological debate, includes various workshops, lectures and dance. The project: Social Entrepreneurship RESULT: Based on the collected data from the market, technical and legal prerequisites for the project of social entrepreneurship have been met. - Monitoring trends in the field of social entrepreneurship - Collecting data, market research - Devising and undertaking measures for the upcoming launch of social entrepreneurship STRENGTHENING ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITIES AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT - Translation, layout and printing of the Croatian edition of the book Counselling Older Clients by Ann Orbach (2003), distribution and promotion of the book to partners and volunteers who work with senior citizens - Developing volunteerism o Networking with the Volunteers Center Zagreb on the project idea Senior Volunteers Club o Promoting volunteerism in working with senior citizens by the principles of older people for younger people and younger people for older people, as well as older people for older people o Permanent training and monitoring of the volunteers - Education of our own team for applications for EU funds 9
