1 CV Magnus Hallberg Tel. (Office) Mobile magnus.hallberg@halfor.se Address: Ingrid Bergmans väg Solna Sweden SUMMARY Magnus Hallberg is the MD and founder of Halfor AB. Magnus has over 20 years of experience of municipal and industrial water handling as project manager, product manager and consultant. The assignments have spanned from responsible for permit applications to leading and completing complex projects. Combining significant experience of water handling through academic qualifications and research together with extensive real world applications has provided an in depth knowledge of advanced water treatment systems. With this the practical ability has been gained to apply the best system to delivering optimal functional solutions. A history of delivering designs and projects demonstrates a track record of completion and getting the job done. The global water and construction industry background provides an understanding and appreciation for the strengths, weaknesses and requirements of organisations delivering water treatment system solutions. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Halfor AB MD, Senior Consultant Xylem Water Solutions AB Business Development Manager Skanska AB Specialist, Project Manager ITT Flygt AB Product Manager, Project Engineer SWECO AB Consultant SIS Project Manager In Appendix 1 projects examples are given and in Appendix 2 a summary of competences for the respective companies can be found. PROJECT EXPERIENCES Magnus has extensive experience and hands on knowledge of water treatment techniques for drinking water production, waste water treatment and industrial process water treatment. Having been responsible for delivering system solutions combining mechanical and electrical supply, in depth process knowledge and practical experience has been pivotal for achieving the process warranties. Magnus has also been responsible for contract work and negotiations for the supplied systems. 22 January 2015 Page 1 of 2
2 The project teams have included up to 30 persons providing technical, environmental, financial, and legal competences. Knowledge feedback and documentation has been a key delivery for completing projects within the defined time frames and also for securing a learning process for the receiving organisation. In certain projects the results and experiences have been published or presented in seminars together with client. The knowledge feedback and learning process also provide an opportunity for the client to reduce costs when carrying out further projects. Magnus has an extensive network in the water industry and in the academic community. Sometimes, in projects that have demanded un-conventional solutions, collaboration with the Universities has been established, often in a form of a Master Thesis. In Appendix 3 an overview of publications and conferences are presented. 3 Appendix 1 CV Magnus Hallberg Magnus Hallberg Tel. (Office) Mobile magnus.hallberg@halfor.se Adress: Ingrid Bergmans väg Solna Sweden EXAMPLE OF PROJECTS Halfor AB Responsible for assessment of the handling of tunnel wash water in the project By-Pass Stockholm ( for the Swedish Transport Agency. The assignment included a literature review and extensive field trials ( The result of the project was the necessary documentation and information for getting the authorities approval for disposal of the wash water and design criteria for the treatment facilities. For more project examples click on the following link Xylem Water Solutions AB Magnus was responsible for business development for the sales company East Europe and Eurasia. Magnus initiated and managed projects for integrating Xylem equipment into systems to provide treatment solutions for customers and markets. An equipment package for sewage treatment plants for loadings between 500 to 5000 PE (Person Equivalents), were completed. The package included all mechanical and electrical equipment as well as documentation for operation and maintenance of the plants. The treatment package was accompanied by a process guarantee, covering BOD, phosphorous and nitrogen. Included in the documentation were also layout drawings for the contractor to prepare necessary drawings for construction of the plants. Magnus was responsible for securing the sales companies first orders for biological treatment using the Xylem ICEAS-SBR technique. Magnus was responsible for the contracts and order execution. The size of the biological treatment units were PE and PE. Magnus was the responsible project manager in projects were Xylem was a preferred subsupplier of equipment to the main contractor e.g. Strabag AG ( The work with contract included Yellow Fidic contracts and customer proposed contracts in conjunction with orders. 22 January 2015 Page 1 of 3
4 Appendix 1 CV Magnus Hallberg Magnus worked with finding financial solutions for projects. Magnus secured founding from Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket) for implementation of the fore mentioned package treatment plants ( PE) in total Euro. Coordination of major contracts and deliveries for ozone and UV for drinking water projects, were also part of Magnus responsibilities. Skanska AB Magnus was specialist and responsible for treatment solution for drainage water in major projects such as Hallandsås (Sweden), Botniabanan (Sweden), Sandvika- Lysaker (Norway) and Brilliant Expansion Project (Canada). Magnus was responsible for the Skanska manual on handling of drainage water from construction sites. The work involved several site visits and gathering information from the whole Skanska organisation to provide an up to date and practically useful manual for the company. In projects for sewage treatment and drinking water production Magnus was responsible for quality assurance. He was member of the technical group for the tender work with one of St. Petersburg s sewage treatment plants. In infrastructure projects where design and set up for supply of drinking water and sewage water was required, Magnus was responsible for providing this. In these projects the water solutions had to be adapted depending on legal requirements and site conditions in the respective country, so standard solutions could rarely be used. In the work with construction of storm water facilities, Magnus saw the need for more knowledge to assess the risks in the diversity of projects that was tendered. In order to provide more experience, Magnus initiated a research project. It was possible for Magnus to also raise interest from several external stakeholders. The research projects were co-financed by Skanska and the Skanska PhD programme, The Office of Regional Planning and Urban Transportation in Stockholm, The Swedish Transport Agency, The Road, Bridge and Tunnel consortium (VBT), and The Swedish construction industry s organisation for research and development (SBUF). The results from the research lead to improved design conditions for construction of treatment facilities. The findings of the research were continuously communicated to the reference groups in seminars and written reports. This was positive for the practical implementation of the results from the project. ITT Flygt AB As project engineer in the mother company, Flygt Products ( ), Magnus was responsible for design and quotes for aeration system for wastewater treatment. The work also included technical support, supervision at installation, handling of claims and training internally and externally e.g. consultant companies. The position meant close cooperation with the production units of equipment and with the customers. 22 January 2015 Page 2 of 3
5 Appendix 1 CV Magnus Hallberg In the sales company, Flygt International ( ), Magnus was responsible for offers and extensive deliveries of combined equipment supply including e.g. pumps, mixers, aeration systems, installation equipment and monitoring and control. He was project manager for small scale hydropower projects (up to 800 kw, max head = 25 m, max flow 10 m 3 /s). For the hydro turbine projects Flygt provided the turbines with integrated generators and controls. After order Magnus was responsible for the project execution. As product manager ( ) for drainage and slurry pumps Magnus worked very close with end users in the steel, construction, and mining industry to sell and insure optimal pumping solutions. SWECO AB Magnus worked with process design and evaluation of water treatment processes. An integral part of the work was laboratory, pilot and field trials. Magnus was responsible for the prestudy including laboratory trials and a major pilot trial using nanofiltration (NF) membranes for producing drinking water. The successful pre-study meant that the first water works using NF membranes was built in Sweden. Magnus was responsible for the process design and startup. Magnus worked mainly with drinking water but also with projects for industrial process water treatment. SIS Magnus worked with standardisation projects in the areas of water, environment and air quality. The work was carried out within the framework of the European Standardisation Organisation (CEN) and the International Standardisation Organisation (ISO). The work was done in very close cooperation with Swedish stakeholders from industry, municipal and governmental organisations to ensure their influence on produced standards. 22 January 2015 Page 3 of 3
