3 Data Integration Suite Wide portfolio of functions All the project scenarios mentioned above can be addressed and implemented using the following features and functions offered by the Uniserv Data Integration Suite: Workflow Designer The Workflow Designer of the Uniserv Data Integration Suite provides both a graphic and a functional view of the underlying data and integration processes. An extensive component library integrated in the Workflow Designer guarantees access to all kinds of sources and destinations required for the processes of data integration, data migration, data consolidation and data synchronisation. These components are inserted in a graphic work area via drag & drop, thereby enabling new integration processes to be created very easily. Various data flow control elements assist the user in defining the process execution sequence. These workflows can be stored in the central repository for reuse. Users can quickly monitor the execution and also check and track the performance via an integrated console view. Workflow Designer 3

4 Central Repository All the information required in the projects is centrally stored in the repository. All the personnel involved in the integration process can access this information and use it collectively. It goes without saying that access is controlled by a pre-defined authorization concept. Different versions of the individual data objects can be stored in the central repository and made available for reuse. An automatic locking system guarantees that jobs are effectively blocked during the creation process, so that no other user can make changes to the same workflow at the same time. Data Previewer The Data Previewer enables the contents of different source and/or destination systems (files, databases, etc.) to be viewed independently of the application which is normally required for opening them. Examples: Notepad for txt and csv files, SQL Query browser for database tables, MS Excel for xls files etc. The Data Previewer saves users a great deal of time, since they can view an extract from the source data without further ado. Data Lineage Changes to data can be tracked very easily by means of the Data Lineage function. Data Lineage documents the changes and enables the user to track the effects his changes have on dependent process data. The result is shown in a report, in which the changes and their effects on dependent process data can be tracked. Rules Management Geschäftsregelmanagement The Uniserv Data Integration Suite supports the user in defining, creating and configuring in-house business or data quality rules. Business rules can be quickly and directly created by means of a graphical editor and can be flexibly edited at any time. Different versions of the rules can also be created and changes administered. These rules can then be imported to the Uniserv Data Integration Suite and made available for direct use in workflow definitions. ETL z.b. This function was especially developed for use in heterogeneous IT environments and enables the integration of a great variety of technologies in source and destination systems (Web Service, files, databases, business applications, etc.). The Uniserv Data Integration Suite has more than 550 connectors available. The connectors also allow direct access to generally used application systems such as SAP, Oracle (incl. PeopleSoft, etc.), Salesforce, Microsoft and many more besides. This function can be used in batch and real time processing. Several ETL processes can be carried out in parallel, in order to speed up the execution. Real-time data integration Users can be provided with better information more quickly and therefore make result-oriented, business-relevant decisions by means of a low latency solution (short timelag) for processing data in real time. The real-time data integration enables the user to react to events in real-time which he would normally only find out about hours or even days later. Work 4

It supports the personnel with responsibility for an integration project in the administration of users, projects, user privileges, licences, etc. The project authorisation can be assigned to each user without any difficulty (support of LDAP directories). Users receive authorization to access the project in accordance with their function by this means. Users can then use repository objects (workflows, meta data for the DB connection, etc.) for the projects for which they are authorized together with other users. Activity Monitoring Console and Dashboard A classic example is Master Data Management. This function is a prerequisite for MDM projects, i.e. a data record is e.g. created locally in a system, extracted in real-time, cleansed centrally, enhanced and subsequently made available to other personnel working locally (worldwide). The Activity Monitoring Console offers a comfortable graphic user interface and is a central monitoring tool. It enables detailed monitoring to consolidate the collected log data, understand the underlying job interactions, prevent unexpected errors and support decisions concerning the system administration. The Activity Monitoring Console monitors job events (successes, errors, warnings, etc.), execution times and data volumes from a central point via a single console. The Activity Monitoring Dashboard supplements the AM Console in a meaningful way with graphical preparation of the collected data. The Dashboard provides diagrams for the execution performance and status indicators, by means of which all those concerned can view both the current and an historical status of the integration processes. 6 Data Quality Connectors (DQ Connectors) The Uniserv DQ Connectors link the Uniserv Data Quality product range with the Uniserv Data Integration Suite. The Uniserv DQ Connectors for the Uniserv Data Integration Suite are available free of charge. Incorrect addresses and duplicates falsify the information content e.g. of ERP, CRM or BI systems and reduce their effectiveness and cost efficiency. Important customerrelated performance indicators are distorted and require superfluous manual research and correction. The reliability of reports and forecasts decreases, which adversely affects corporate planning. Consignments cannot be delivered, marketing campaigns are without effect and customer satisfaction is put at risk. The costs of an integration project are made clear with the Uniserv Data Quality Connectors. The DQ Connector for single record customer data validation and correction is suitable for real-time use and batch use. In the duplicate search, prospects can be automatically searched for in the database (e.g. during the transfer from the Internet portal) and marked as potential duplicates. The updating of a special index pool for the errortolerant search ensures that the new prospective customer is immediately available for further searches. Lists with black sheep can be administered and suspicious prospects marked as cases for investigation. A second DQ Connector enables the integration of highperformance batch jobs which are defined and executed in the Uniserv DQ Batch Suite. Typical ETL processes can therefore be supplemented with data quality functions in conjunction with the DQ connectors, e.g. customer databases can be loaded from an old IT system, the data cleansed and the results loaded to the new CRM system. In addition to this, data from different systems can be periodically consolidated and cleansed while being loaded to a Data Warehouse. Workstation Advanced Server Standalone solution for smaller projects. Client/server solution for medium-sized projects with up to 6 servers and up to 6 user licences. Entry Server Enterprise Server Client/server solution with one server and up to 3 user licences. Enables effective collaboration. All the employees use one server and therefore one repository, the Designer can be used on several workstations. From 6 users upwards. The number of servers can be varied depending on the capacity requirements. Several servers can be combined to form a virtual server to increase the performance.
