1 HOW TO GET THERE AND WHAT TO BRING Travelling to the Assessment Centre Please see your or attachment for detail on getting to Army Assessment Centre. If in doubt please contact your CSM. If you are delayed on your journey, please call the duty assessor to let them know on: Pirbright Lichfield Belfast Glencorse Getting your train tickets PLEASE NOTE: This section on train tickets is only for those going to Asessment Centre Pirbright, Lichfield or Glencorse. If you are going to Belfast you must make your own travel arrangements (if you use public transport to Belfast you can claim back the costs afterwards). The Army will book your train tickets and pay for them. Our travel agent will send your ticket collection details including travel times to you by . This will arrive 5-7 days before you travel, and will come from If you haven t received the 3 days before your assessment begins, check to see if it is in your junk/spam folder. If it isn t get in touch with your CSM. What to wear Please arrive wearing smart casual clothing. Food Please make sure you have eaten before arrival, as your first meal at the Assessment Centre will be breakfast on the day after you arrive. Remember to bring enough money to buy food, drink or anything else you might need whilst you are travelling, as the Army will not pay for this.

2 WHAT TO BRING (Packing List) Documents required for Selection Identification you must bring 3 documents (see last page of document for full detail) This must include: Photographic ID. Proof of address. If you are not a UK resident, we need to see proof of your right to work in the UK. See the full list of documents, link to Accepted ID. If you do not bring the correct ID, you will not be able to take part in the selection events, and will be sent home. Education Certificates Any GCSE certificates (e.g. English, Maths, or equivalent such as Scottish Standard Grades). These must be the originals not photocopies. If you do not have the certificates yet, bring a statement of results. You will need to provide the certificates as soon as you get them. To take part in the Activities Sports kit Shorts, a plain short-sleeved t-shirt, trainers with laces (not slip-on shoes) and a tracksuit or similar. Wear appropriate underwear for the medical. Interview clothes Smart clean clothes to wear for your interview. For your overnight stay (2 nights) Clothing and toiletries Normal clothing, personal items, soap/shampoo for 2 nights. A towel. Any medication you are taking. Glasses (spectacles) or Contact Lenses. If you wear glasses bring them with you. You may not wear contact lenses. Soft contact lenses should be removed 48 hours in advance. Hard lenses should be removed 10 days beforehand. A failure to do so may result in your medical being deferred to a later date. Please bring a copy of your current opticians prescription/report. You might have to ask for a copy from your optician.

3 DO NOT BRING Valuable items (such as ipads, laptops or large amounts of cash) We do not have much space to store your valuables, so please leave these at home. Body Piercing and Jewellery Please remove all body piercings, acrylic (false) nails and jewellery before you leave home. This is so you are safe while doing the assessment activities. If you cannot remove body piercings/false nails you will not be allowed to undertake Army Selection. Any clothing that could cause offence or is inappropriate This includes T-shirts with offensive slogans. Alcohol or drugs If you drink alcohol or take drugs during your journey or stay, we will ask you to leave the Assessment Centre. Please note, for security reasons your bags will be searched before entering the Assessment Centre.

4 Proof of Nationality and Right to Work in the UK Proof of Address Photo ID to prove who you are ACCEPTED IDENTIFICATION You MUST provide 3 Identity Documents. 1 must be Photographic, 1 must prove your address and you must prove your nationality/ right to work in the UK. 3 Separate Forms of ID Proof Required Preferred Identity Documents A Current Passport Photo Driving Licence Cards carrying Pass Accreditation Logo ie Citizen Card, Young Scots Card HM Forces ID Card - (if still serving) Firearms Licence (must be current and show current address) NI Electoral ID Card Biometric Residence Permit Utility Bill (but not a mobile phone bill or car insurance) Dated within 3 months Bank/Building SocietyCredit Card Statement Dated within 3 months Photo Driving Licence licence must be valid Job Seekers Letter Wage Slip - Dated within 3 months A full UK Birth Certificate (issued within 6 weeks of birth) & National Insurance Number (NINO) or A current Passport Naturalisation Certificate Deed Poll (can only be used if document states Nationality) 4 Overseas Candidate Passport and Biometric Card (Visa) Alternative Identity Documents All Signed Passport Photos must state on the reverse the declaratoin I confirm this is a true likeness of.. plus signature and date. Photos and covering letters must clearly state your name and be dated within the last 3 months A recent letter from your school or college head on headed paper confirming your identity with a (signed) passport photo attached A recent letter from a Youth Organisation/Sports Club/Professional Organisation that you belong to on headed paper confirming your identity with a (signed) passport photo attached A recent letter with a (signed) passport photo attached from a person you know (a countersignatory) that either works in or has retired from a recognised profession or is a person of good standing who has known you for at least 2 years. For example a Civil Servant, Doctor, Solicitor or an Officer of the Armed Services (commissioned and noncommissioned). Please click here for further examples of countersignatories (Annex A) A Sports Association Licence with your photograph attached that is current. Open a Bank Account and use the confirmation letter from your bank as a proof of address dated within 3 months A recent letter from your local authority i.e. Council Tax Statement/Welfare Officer/Social Worker dated within 12 months A recent letter from a doctor or hospital confirming an appointment dated within 3 months Mortgage/Financial Statement eg pension, endowment, ISA dated within 12 months A Savings Account Book showing your address Child Benefit Book or Tax Credit Summary clearly stating your name. Documents from Central Government Agencies P45/P60 or National Insurance Letter issued within last 12 months and must show current address as stated on your application Election Polling Card (cannot be accepted after election date) Private or Council Tenancy/Rental Agreement A full UK version (Long certificate) of a Birth Certificate showing one or both parents and their place of birth A full UK version of an Adoption Certificate showing one or both parents and their Nationality A short birth certificate. You must also provide proof of one of your parent s nationality with their Passport or Birth certificate. (You can prove your parent s nationality by taking a certified copy of their passport or birth certificate) Passport must be valid and have at least 4 years and 6 months validity Biometric Residence Permit must be valid if not valid at time of Assessment then Home Office letter proving renewal is in process must be provided

5 Annex A Examples of further Photo ID countersignatories: Countersignatories must work in (or be retired from) a recognised profession or be a person of good standing in their community. The countersignatory should provide a letter stating that they have known you personally for at least 2 years and include confirmation of their name, profession, address, contact telephone number and date. Two passport photos must also be signed on the back with the following statement I confirm this is a true likeness of.. plus signature and date.
