Yet practices anticipate they ll have to jump through hoops to be successful. Ready to separate the facts from the fiction? You CAN have success! s presentations help dental teams learn that cross coding is not as overwhelming as they may have thought. Terri provides the tools and systems which bring great success a benefit to both patients and the practice. Attendees work through real life scenarios as they walk step by step through the process. They receive a detailed handout - including a full range of scenarios and coding examples and they leave empowered to implement the learning back at the office. As dental carriers are forcing more claims to process through medical before they will pay dental, and patients are asking dental offices to submit claims to their medical insurance (where appropriate), there s never been a better time to hone your medical/dental cross coding understanding and skills. NO LONGER LOST IN TRANSLATION: Medical/Dental Coding Decoded! This course provides a comprehensive, step-by-step guide for dental staff who have little or no experience (or success) with medical coding for dental procedures. We will cover the procedures and topics most commonly associated with the medical coding dental offices need to use. UNTANGLING THE WEB OF OMS BILLING Drawing on Terri s 25 years hands-on experience with medical/dental cross coding and billing in oral and maxillofacial surgery practices, this presentation delves deeper into medical billing for OMS offices. Learn the correct coding principles and guidelines for diagnostic and procedure coding seen most often in OMS practices. READY OR NOT, IT S HERE: ICD-10 Attend this dynamic session to learn what you can do now to help prepare your office for a smooth transition. Topics to be covered include: the difference between ICD-9 and ICD-10, how the new coding system will impact your entire office, what steps you should be taking now, and what to expect when the time comes to switch to ICD-10.
NO LONGER LOST IN TRANSLATION: Medical/Dental Coding Decoded! Billing dental procedures through medical insurance can: Increase Collections Provide a tremendous service to patients Save patient s dental benefits for use on other dental procedures So, why aren t more dental offices billing medical insurance? For All Dental Audiences Many dental teams are understaffed, don t have time to figure it out, don t have the tools available or know how to use them. Dental practices bill medical insurance with varying degrees of success. Obtaining reimbursement from any medical plan requires a thorough understanding of how to complete the medical claim form, select and prioritize diagnostic codes, and, in many cases, translate dental procedure codes to medical procedure codes. This course provides a comprehensive, step-by-step guide for dental staff who have little or no experience (or success) with medical coding for dental procedures. We will cover the procedures and topics most commonly associated with the medical coding dental offices need to use. Evaluation and management codes, x-rays, oral pathology, appliances, dentoalveolar, dental implants, and trauma related services will be discussed. The CMS 1500 insurance claim forms will be completed using sample procedures that are encountered in dental offices. No longer will CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9 codes be unsolvable mysteries! With the ability to identify and interpret medical codes, participants will confidently bill medical insurance companies knowing payments will be forthcoming! How to properly complete a CMS-1500 claim form How to locate, prioritize, and report medical diagnosis codes When to use modifiers How to select the appropriate evaluation and management (E&M) code How to bill dental radiographs, extractions & implant-related services to medical plans How to report accident-related dental services to medical plans How to report TMJ orthotics, sleep apnea appliances, and bruxguards to medical How to report biopsies and other oral lesions to medical How to bill medical for dental services for the medically compromised patient.
UNTANGLING THE WEB OF OMS BILLING For OMS Dental Audiences Does your staff struggle to remain current with policy updates and changes in the insurance industry? Are you looking for a coding course that is tailored to the needs of an OMS practice? Are you sure that you re getting maximum reimbursement from the insurance carriers? Drawing on s 25 years hands-on experience with medical/dental cross coding and billing in oral and maxillofacial surgery practices, this presentation delves deeper into medical billing for OMS offices. Learn the correct coding principles and guidelines for diagnostic and procedure coding seen most often in OMS practices. Coding scenarios covering bone grafting, oral pathology, and other common OMS surgical procedures, radiology billing (including CBCT imaging), and anesthesia billing will be reviewed. Find out how to code more complex scenarios such as orthognathics and trauma related services. We ll also examine updates on industry changes that may impact your practice, such as the new CPT, CDT and ICD-9 codes as well as E&M visits and the change to ICD-10. How to locate, prioritize, and report ICD-9 codes How to code more complex cases like orthognathics and trauma The importance of Relative Value Units When to use modifiers How to select the appropriate evaluation and management (E&M) code
READY OR NOT, HERE IT COMES: ICD-10 For OMS Practices ICD-10 presents a whole new diagnosis coding system for the entire medical industry. ICD-10 will contain triple the number of codes from ICD-9. It is anticipated claim processing will be slow while insurance companies switch systems. The time has come! In less than one year, the switch to ICD-10 will be made and it is important that your office be prepared to transition. Now is the time to gain a more in depth understanding of what ICD-10 means to your practice. Early preparation and understanding of the new codes, coding procedures and ICD-10 specific terminology will help ensure that your practice has a smooth transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10. Attend this dynamic, in-depth session to learn what you can do now to help prepare your office. We will conduct a detailed overview of the ICD-10 topics and guidelines that affect OMS offices. Attendees will work through numerous coding examples that cover both basic procedures (i.e. extractions) and more complex procedures (i.e. fractures). Co-morbidities that affect common procedures will be reviewed, as will the new guidelines for coding neoplasms. Attendees can expect to walk away from this course with a detailed, intimate knowledge of ICD-10 coding guidelines and procedures. This is a hands on session that is designed to give OMS practices the tools they need to successfully transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10. Review the differences between the ICD-9 and the ICD-10 coding systems. Learn the importance of extensions, sequela and laterality in coding for fractures. Understand the new coding guidelines for neoplasms. Review mapping, and its restrictions, between ICD-9 and ICD-10. Understand how to code for late effects and personal histories. Conduct and in-depth assessment of how to code for co-morbidities for OMS procedures. Work through multiple, detailed coding examples.
READY OR NOT, HERE IT COMES: ICD-10 For All Dental Audiences ICD-10 presents a whole new diagnosis coding system for the entire medical industry. ICD-10 will contain triple the number of codes. It is anticipated claim processing will be slow while insurance companies switch systems. Although ICD-10 doesn t take effect until 2014, it is important to get a head start on preparation for the new diagnostic coding system. The financial and economic impact on private practice will be significant. All insurance carriers will need to update software and get a new system in place. It is recommended that a practice reserve six months overhead because payment from carriers is likely to be slow during the transition. This is a tremendous financial impact for any dental office that consistently bills medical carriers. Attend this dynamic session to learn what you can do now to help prepare your office for a smooth transition. Topics to be covered include: the difference between ICD-9 and ICD-10, how the new coding system will impact your entire office, what steps you should be taking now, and what to expect when the time comes to switch to ICD-10. What to expect with the new ICD-10 coding system and how to prepare The difference between ICD-9 and ICD-10 What steps you ll want to take now The transition to a replacement diagnosis and inpatient procedure classification system in the United States will be extremely challenging for physician practices. there will be substantial implementation costs for hardware and software upgrade. providers will have to better document to support a higher level of specificity. Finally, the large increase in the number of diagnosis codes (ICD-10-CM is now at almost 70,000) will necessitate intensive and costly training for both administrative and clinical staff. - Medical Group Management Association Comment on ICD-10
