4 RELEASE NOTES FOR TANDBERG ANALYTICS EXTENSION 1.0 Introduction This release note is to describe the TANDBERG Analytics Extension version 1.0, released May Customers should review the changes included with this release prior to installation. TANDBERG recommends all beta installations of TANDBERG Analytics Extension to be upgraded to the 1.0 release. New Feature Overview This is the first external release of the Analytics Extension. The aim of the product is to provide a flexible and powerful reporting mechanism as an add-on to TANDBERG Management Suite (TMS). The product allows customers to design and implement their own advanced reports, either standalone, or integrated into their custom software projects. Supplemental Notes to Manuals Documentation As of May 19, 2010, the documentation for TANDBERG Analytics Extension consists of the following documents: TANDBERG Analytics Extension Installation guide TANDBERG Analytics Extension Admin guide TANDBERG Analytics Extension API documentation All documentation is located at the Support > Documentation section of the TANDBERG website at Installation You are advised to review the installation guide before installing the product. Before installing, make sure that you have the following: An SQL Server 2005 or 2008 installation with the latest service packs. Include SQL Server Analysis Services in the installation. An account mapped to the sysadmin role in SQL Server. This account will be used by the installer to set up the data warehouse database and OLAP cube. A new (non-admin) domain service account. This account will be used by the installed data warehousing application. An account on the TMS SQL Server that can read the tmsng database. Upgrades TANDBERG Analytics Extension 1.0 uses a full installation program. Seamlessly upgrading from beta installations is currently not supported; upgrades may be supported in future releases. If you have a beta version of the product installed, you will have to uninstall it and manually delete the data warehousing database, cube and server link before installing version 1.0. 5 After running the Analytics Extension uninstaller, use SQL Server Management Studio to perform the following steps: Interoperability 1. Delete the "tmsng_dwh" database 2. Delete the linked server, its name should start with "TMSREPORTING_SRC_". Linked servers are located under "Server Objects" in the SQL Management Studio object browser. 3. Delete the SSAS database, by default named "tmsng_dwhasdb". Remember to connect to "Analysis Services" and not "Database engine" when doing this. TANDBERG Analytics Extension 1.0 requires TANDBERG Management Suite version Please refer to the TANDBERG Analytics Extension Installation guide for full details on hardware and software requirements. Note that the SQL Server Express Edition that ships with TMS cannot be used for the Analytics Extension data warehouse; this component needs SQL Server Standard Edition or better. Known limitations for TANDBERG Analytics Extension 1.0 There is an issue with the way TMS collects data about cause codes from the VCS. TMS discards all cause code information with the exception of "Normal call clearing". This only applies to H323 calls; SIP calls are unaffected. The uninstaller is in some rare cases unable to remove the Analytics Extension Windows Service (called TANDBERG Analytics Extension Service ). If this happens, you will get the following error message when reinstalling: Error Service 'TANDBERG Analytics Extension Service' (TandbergAnalyticsExtensionService) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services. When this happens, it will not be possible to install the Analytics Extension again until the server is rebooted. To avoid this problem, manually stop the service before running the uninstaller. After a failed installation or after an uninstallation, the installer might in some cases be unable to remove all of the installed files. This could lead to an Error 2318 when running the installer again. Solution: Reboot the server and run the installer again. If the TMS server is very slow, the installer might get a.net connection timeout. The timeout value can be changed in the TMS server machine.config file, as described in the Analytics Extension Admin guide. The ETL job could fail to complete in some very rare cases. If this happens, run a TANDBERG supplied patch to update your installation. TANDBERG Analytics Extension : Release Notes 5
