1 Romeo and Juliet Court Case Who should be found guilty for Romeo and Juliet s deaths? You have a team of 3-4 people. In this team, you will either prosecute or defend an assigned Romeo and Juliet character for being responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. You will be in the courtroom against another legal team, and they will be trying to prove you wrong! (Example: If you are trying to prove that Lord Capulet is guilty for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, the other team will be defending Lord Capulet by saying he is innocent). They will have evidence that proves they are right and witnesses (who can only use lines from the play) who agree with their viewpoint. We will have a real trial with attorneys and witnesses. After the hearing, the entire class will be the jury to decide if that character is guilty or innocent! You will be (circle yours): prosecuting (accusing them of the deaths of Romeo and Juliet) defending (proving that they are innocent) Your character: 1. 2 FAQ Answers: You are only asking questions to people on your legal team (sorry, no cross- examining here). You will not need to prepare any answers from questions you don t see coming. Your witnesses can only speak in exact quotes from the play. However, you can have your witness say multiple quotes to answer just one question, as long as the quotes make sense strung together. You are allowed to use notecards to remember what you need to say. Everyone needs to turn in a pre- trial research outline. One person needs to submit a group copy of the formal courtroom paperwork.
