3 Visma Analysis Report Viewer Visma Analysis is using the new Microsoft Report Viewer 2010 for both the web client and Excel add-in. This is coming with a number of enhancements: Chart with 2 y axes can be used to visualize 2 different types of measures on the same chart like for example amount accounting and accounting in percent of budget; Gauge new visual metaphor to display a number in relation to a scale; Trend visual metaphor to present the evolution in time of a measure; Reports are generated in the new RDL 2008 schema. It is maintaining the backward compatibility to 2005 RDL schema templates. With the introduction of the new Microsoft Report Viewer 2010, Visma Analysis can take advantage of a new visualization tool: Gauge. This is a new visual metaphor that can present a number in relation to a given scale. It can be used to efficiently display KPI where we have a value related to a goal. Visma Analysis has the possibility to fine tune the report display by adding or removing row and column grand totals. Report Templates Visma Analysis comes with a new set of report templates and refined graphical style of existent ones. Chart template to give a quick overview only displaying a chart; Gauge template to give a quick overview only displaying a gauge; KPI template can be used to display KPI defined in data models (cubes) showing the actual value, goal or target, status in relation to target (goal), and trend or evolution in time. Nordic Cool template makes use of the new Visma HCI specifications for user interface. Printable template displaying information in a simple, printer friendly black & white format, not including any graphical components such as chart or gauge. The standard template redesigned for a better visual impression. The new templates provided with Visma Analysis are compliant with Report Builder 2010 standards respecting the 2008 RDL schema. 4 Report Generation Reports generated by Visma Analysis are compliant to Microsoft standards. Generated reports can be loaded and previewed in Microsoft Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS). This is an important productivity improvement for users that need to modify the Visma Analysis generated reports before deploying them in Visma Reporting for distribution. Depending on the template used for generating the report these reports are compatible with BIDS 2005 or BIDS Visma Analysis standard templates are only compatible to BIDS Excel add-in Visma Analysis Excel add-in supports rework on the pivot table: create a pivot table, request a report preview, close the report preview, rework the pivot table and request another report preview. The pivot table can be saved in the form of Excel file and reopened later for report generation. Visma Analysis Excel add-in can work with multiple pivot tables, generating the report for each, one at a time. Content / Cubes Visma Analysis can deploy a data model (cube) with multiple data-sources (e.g. Visma Business and Visma CRM). Visma Analysis Management Console supports the deployment of such a data model (cube) by offering independent connection configuration for each involved data-source. Visma Analysis is providing a new data model (cube) Visma Business Report Definition in the default installation package. This data model (cube) makes the Visma Business report definitions and reporting lines available to the analyst in the form of dimensions that can be used in the analysis as rows, columns or filters. Visma Analysis standard data models (cubes) for Visma Business are delivered now in a collation independent format. The standard data models (cubes) will work no matter what collation (language settings) is setup for Visma Business. Authorization & Authentication Visma Analysis Management Console has the possibility to give user groups access rights for data models (cubes). The system administrator does not need to configure access rights for individual users; he can rather create a user group and configure the access for the entire group. 5 Visma Analysis Licensing Visma Analysis had the following licensing issues: If Visma Analysis was installed on a different path than default, you were not able to activate the license. On retrying, the application would display a message that the license had already been activated and would not allow you to activate the license. Visma Analysis is periodically (usually monthly based) verifying the license. Visma Analysis was prompting for new license activation upon periodical check even if the license was still active and valid. These issues have been solved for Visma Analysis The licensing file is now placed on: C:\ProgramData\Visma\Analysis\Config\License.xml Open saved analysis in Excel Working with Visma Analysis Excel add-in (Visma Analysis desktop client), the current analysis (pivot table) can be saved as an Excel file. Later on, the saved excel file containing the analysis (pivot table) can be reopened and work can continue: modify the analysis (pivot table) by adding/ removing dimensions or measures; modify the analysis (pivot table) by altering visualization (look & feel); request report preview and save the created report as.rdl file. Handle cubes with missing translations When using a cube with missing translations (dimensions, measures, or complete language), Visma Analysis (both web and desktop client) will continue working using default database names, without reporting any error. 6 Visma Analysis Licensing When license is not activated, then you get following license activation dialogue on starting Visma Analysis management console (Fig. 1.1). Fig 1.1 Visma Analysis management console license activation dialogue Furthermore, Visma Analysis web client displays following message in absence of license: License has expired (Fig 1.2). Fig 1.2 Visma Analysis web-client message when license has not been activated You should get a license activation key from Visma license department. Note: license can only be activated through Visma Analysis management console. It implies that you should have web-client and management console; both installed on the same machine. 7 Previewing a report Once you have created Analysis, then you can preview it as a report by clicking Preview Report tab (Fig 2.1). 8 Enable drilldown You can enable/disable drilldown by simply checking on/off following option (Fig 2.4). Fig 2.4 Enabling drilldown Parameters These are the parameters that will be provided to run a report in Visma Reporting. You have option to select parameters that you would like to appear in Visma Reporting as a filter. Furthermore, you can select whether a parameter should be Multi Value or Select Box (Fig 2.5). Fig 2.5 Report parameters Note: No change will take effect, unless you have pressed Refresh report button. Saving a report Now, Visma Analysis has made it easier to design your report. You can save a report on your local machine and then deploy it in Visma Reporting to publish it for others. Visma Software AS Visma Analysis

9 Deploying a report in Visma Reporting Once you ve created a report in Visma Analysis. It can be deployed in Visma Reporting. Once you have deployed the report then select Visma Analysis as an application type. Assign roles as required. Visma Analysis as an application type is already added in Visma User Directory (VUD) during Visma Reporting 3.5 installation. VUD user guide will further guide you about creating an application instance and assigning an application type to a company. An important step while assigning Visma Analysis as an application type is to provide its URI. A simple URI format is: Provider=MSOLAP;Data Source=xyz;Integrated Security=SSPI;Initial Catalog=company_name; Where, Data Source is the name of your analysis server. And, Initial Catalog is the name of the company. An important difference from Visma Business based reports is that Visma Analysis reports run against a cube instead of a database. Note: Since, cube information is stored in report definition file itself. Therefore, there is no need to explicitly specify cube name in URI. Moreover, it is needless to mention that a report created for one cube will not work for another. Default user running Visma Reporting service (windows services) is Network Service. This user normally doesn t have access to analysis models. In order to run reports created in Visma Analysis, make sure that user running the Reporting service is having access to analysis models. Visma Analysis Excel add-in Once Visma Analysis Excel add-in is installed, then Visma Analysis ribbon will appear in Microsoft Excel (Fig 4.1). 10 New Connection By clicking New Connection button, following screen shows up. There you can specify cube name, and language. In order to connect to a cube, you should have access to the cube(s). Fig. 4.2 New connection Visma Software AS Visma Analysis
