At Queens Cross Dental we provide a range of treatments for patients of all ages with our dentists offering tailored treatments to meet your needs. Due to our dentists many different specialities and interests, we are able to provide a comprehensive dental service at Queens Cross Dental. Our non-invasive facial aesthetic services are carried out in partnership with Lynda Smith of Saorsa Aesthetics, a registered and experienced Advanced Aesthetic Practitioner. We are dedicated to providing excellent customer care in that every patient is treated as an individual. Our dentists aspire to work at a relaxed pace providing all patients with the best service and treatment quality. This enables more time to be spent discussing the treatment options available enabling the patient to make an informed decision about their forthcoming care. Same day emergency appointments, out of hours emergency care and one off treatments without patient registration are available as well as 0% patient finance. We are now able to offer FREE Wifi to all patients who are waiting to be seen. The practice is conveniently located in the West-end of Aberdeen with ample free private parking to the rear.

3 OUR TEAM Dr Andrew Scott (BDS, BMSc, DPDS) Principle Dentist Andrew graduated from the University of Dundee Dental School in 1996 and has been placing dental implants since He has regularly attended many advanced dental implant courses and conferences in UK and Europe to extend his expertise and knowledge. Andrew jointly runs an implant study group for the North East of Scotland and is a registered mentor to assist dentists wishing to learn and place dental implants. Andrew is happy to accept referrals for all aspects of dental implant treatment and also has a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry. 2 Julie Rafferty (BDS) Joined the practice when it first opened in January 2005 having also qualified from Dundee University in Julie worked in Canada for 6 years obtaining a pass in the Canadian Dental Board Exam in 2004 before returning to Aberdeen. Julie enjoys all aspects of dentistry with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry with particular satisfaction from seeing the results. She has undergone cosmetic orthodontic courses in Inman Aligner and Clear Aligner and will be taking part in the Six Month Smile course in November Alan Maxwell (BDS MSc MDGS RCS) Alan is a specialist in Periodontics (gums). He graduated from the University Of Glasgow Dental School in 1982 and subsequently obtained his MGDS from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He was accepted on to the Specialist Register in Periodontics in 2000 after completing his MSc in Periodontology and is also a member of the British Society of Periodontology. Alan undertakes all aspects of treatment within his field, with a major focus on regenerative therapy and cosmetic periodontal therapy. He also has an interest in cosmetic crown and bridge dentistry. 4 Ciro Barreto Ciro joins our team of general dentists; Ciro is from Venezuela and qualified as a dentist in He obtained a PhD in Geriatric dentistry in 2008 from University of Granada, Spain. He then went on to complete an MSc in Endodontics in 2009 from the University of Seville. Ciro has been working in private practice in Spain and is relocating to be near his family already living here. 5 Shahab Rahman (BDS MSc MFDS RCSEd) Shahab has been practicing dentistry for seven years, post qualification. He is a qualified dentist from India and went on to complete his MSc in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Newcastle. He joined the restorative Department at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in 2004 and is currently working as a staff Grade Restorative Dentist there. Shahab joined Queens Cross Dental in May Stephen Martin (BDS MJDF RCS(Eng) PG Dip) Stephen qualified in 2000 from the University of Dundee where he went onto work in practice and hospital settings in Scotland and Australia. Stephen has been running a successful private endodontic referral practice in Edinburgh for a number of years whilst studying part-time for his MSc in Endodontics at the University of Central Lancashire. He has also completed a Higher Training in Endodontics course at the University of Newcastle, and is a certified Dentsply Endodontic Educator. He is happy to accept referrals for all aspects of endodontic treatment. 7 Noman Shah (BDS, MBChB, MSc Oral Pathology (London), MFDSRCS Eng, MFDS RCPSGlasg) Noman is dually qualified, and obtained his dental degree from university of Karachi in 1996 and Medicine from Aberdeen Medical school. He is fully registered with General Dental Council and General Medical Council of UK. He acquired his MSc in Oral Pathology, Oct from University of London, (St Bartholomew s & the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry). He furthered his education and obtained Diploma of membership (MFDSRCS) from Royal College of Surgeons of England and another Diploma of membership (MFDSRCPSG) from Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Glasgow in Noman also has extensive training in Dental Implantology from the General Implant Forum & Training Institute with further hands-on training from university of New York in Berlin and all on four Implant aesthetics training in Stuttgart along with dental sedation from Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry. 8 Nikki Charles (hygienist) Nikki Charles (RDH) qualified from Dundee Dental Hospital with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene in September 1993 and has worked in local general practice since. Nicola joined us in January 2008 and is interested in periodontal (gum) health, with aims to encourage and motivate patients to improve on their general oral health in a comfortable environment. 9 Dawn Stevens (Practice Manager) Dawn is from Bristol and qualified as a Dental Nurse in 1990, she is also qualified in Dental Radiography and IV Sedation. Dawn worked as Senior Nurse in a Private Practice before becoming an Area Nurse for the South West of England for Oasis Dental Care. She moved to Aberdeen in 2008 where she joined Queens Cross Dental as our Practice Manager.

5 OUR TREATMENTS Routine Dentistry All of our dentists are able to provide general dental care to our patients. Routine dentistry is as important as any other treatment we provide. For the patient, routine dental care is helpful in preventing dental concerns from worsening and can stop dental diseases from even starting and developing. Dental Implants Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium. Crowns, bridges and dentures can all be attached to dental implants to give the most natural and secure replacement for missing teeth. Dental implants offer a wide range of benefits which result in increased confidence and improved quality of smile. Cosmetic Dental Treatments The following are available: composite fillings, crowns, veneers and professional tooth whitening and tooth straightening. Orthodontics Treatment Orthodontic treatment will help straighten or move crooked teeth into a better position. This not only helps improve their appearance but also the way the teeth bite together, whilst also making them easier to clean. At Queens Cross Dental we are able to offer Inman Aligner, Clear Aligner and 6 Month Smile (from November 2012). Endodontic Services At Queens Cross Dental we are able to carry out all aspects of endodontic treatment better known as root canal treatment. Root canal treatment can save a tooth that would otherwise have to be taken out. Periodontal Care Different levels of gum disease can be treated at our practice. Alan will be able to discuss and offer a treatment plan to patients who require specialist oral hygiene care. Single visit CEREC Crowns & Inlay The CEREC is the only system for the fabrication of all ceramic dental restorations in one single visit where it can simultaneously design and mill blocks of tooth coloured ceramic material. For you, the patient, this means fewer injections, less drilling, and less time out of your hectic schedule as well as helping restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function. Hygienist Services Nikki s main job is to professionally clean patients teeth combined with looking after the gums. Most importantly she will work with your dentist to give you care that is tailored to your needs showing you the best way to keep your teeth free of plaque and gums healthy. Complex Procedures We are able to provide a comprehensive level of specialist care for patients requiring maxillofacial treatment and complex denture cases. This includes full mouth rehabilitation, restoring severe tooth wear and treatment for the loss of tooth surface Referral Services Due to our dentists many different specialities, we are able to offer a comprehensive referral service to other Dental practices in the Aberdeen and Shire area from periodontal, endodontic, dental implants to complex restorative treatments. 7 OUR PRICE GUIDE Prices stated opposite are provided as an indication only. Prices will be reviewed biannually. Treatment quotation is valid for 6 months from date of issue. Patients are able to pay for treatments using cash, debit or credit cards. All treatments received must be paid for in full at the time of each appointment. 0% Patient Finance Queens Cross Dental offers 0% patient finance. Denplan Essential Maintenance Cover Denplan Essential is a maintenance programme that allows you to access our high quality dentistry from per month where we offer 2 check ups, 2 hygienist appointments, 10% off treatments (excluding dental implants and special offers) and emergency care. Cancellation Policy We reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of 50 per hour if you cancel less than 24hrs before your appointment. Failed appointments will be charged at 100 per hour. Free Children s Dental Check Ups Children go free when attending a check-up at the same time as their parents, family check-up includes up to 2 children free of charge (one child per adult). Cold Sores If you have a cold sore prior to your appointment, please get in touch to reschedule as you will not be able to be seen by the dentist or hygienist.
