5 1 Overview The Business Continuity Management plan documents the various activities that would be performed by Solidarity in the event of a disaster affecting its operations. Business Continuity Management is a comprehensive process requiring significant resources and is critical for the survival of the organization on the face of serious challenges. The Business Continuity Plan of Solidarity is based on significant studies performed by the company relating to the likely impact of a disaster on the organization as a whole and also on each of the critical functions performed by the various departments across Solidarity. 2 Structure of the document The Business Continuity Plan for Solidarity has been organized into sections with each section addressing specific areas related to Business Continuity Management. The various sections contained in this document are as follows: Introduction to Business Continuity Management; Business Continuity Management Policies and Guidelines; Business Continuity Teams, their roles and responsibilities; o BC team structure; and o BC roles and responsibilities Crisis Management Plan; o Emergency Evacuation Plan; o Communications and Public Relations Plan; and o Salvage Plan IT Disaster Recovery Plan; Business Recovery and operations during disaster plan; Business Continuity Testing framework; BC maintenance process: o BC document control; o BC change control; o BC ongoing activities & audit; and o BC testing procedure. Readiness Checklist: o Team coordinates or contact details; o Responsibility matrix; o Implementation checklist; o BC forms/templates index; and o BC audit list. 5

6 3 Objective The objective of the Business Continuity Management process is to ensure continued operations of Solidarity as an organization in the event of a disaster. This would involve performing the critical functions that are important for ensuring an acceptable level of service to all stakeholders. 4 Scope The Business Continuity Management Plan covers Solidarity s operations in the Kingdom of Bahrain and includes the requirements of the following companies / departments: Companies / Departments Solidarity General Takaful Company Life and Medical Insurance Department (Group and Individual) Finance Department Asset Management & Investment Department Information Technology Department Human Resources Department Legal & Compliance Department The plan does not provide for country contingencies i.e. disasters that could affect offices outside the Kingdom of Bahrain. Please note that all services rendered to other offices from the kingdom of Bahrain would be covered as part of this plan. 4.1 Executive Owner The Executive Owner for this document is the Board of Directors at Solidarity Group Holding. 6
