1 New!! - Higher performance for Windows and UNIX environments The IBM TotalStorage Network Attached Storage Gateway 300 (NAS Gateway 300) is designed to act as a gateway between a storage area network (SAN) and users attached to an Internet Protocol (IP) based network to provide those users with access to data stored on a SAN or stand-alone Fibre Channel device. The NAS Gateway 300 product comes standard with CIFS and NFS support for use in heterogeneous environments. NAS Gateway 300 (5196-G27) The IBM NAS Gateway 300 Model G27, with its tuned Windows Powered OS, is designed to provide a high-performance solution for Windows (CIFS) as well as mixed Windows and UNIX environments. With its ability to support up to 22 TB of SAN-attached storage, the NAS Gateway 300 can help leverage your existing IP investment if you require a scalable storage solution. The dual engine configuration of the NAS Gateway 300 is designed to support high availability as well as high performance. In this performance evaluation, both engines were configured to actively participate in session traffic (active/active), supporting excellent performance in a heterogeneous environment. IBM delivers a first IBM is the first NAS provider to offer a totally integrated TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE) solution. By combining three leading edge technologies; IBM advanced Intel based servers, dual 2.4GHz Intel Server Class Xeon processors and the patented TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE) technology from Alacritech ( IBM was able to document record level performance results over previous models of IBM NAS devices. The following chart identifies maximum performance numbers achieved during laboratory testing. Your numbers may vary depending on numerous factors including your network configuration, amount of network traffic and your server configuration/workload. The first graph shows that the CIFS Performance (throughput) continues to increase as more clients make requests, until the maximum performance of 1438 Megabits/sec is reached at 56 clients. As more clients are added, the throughput stabilizes at more than 1300 Mbits/sec.

( VeriTest ) or Ziff Davis Midia Inc and that neither Ziff Davis Midia Inc nor VeriTest make any representations or warranties as to the results of the test. All products used in the test are shipping versions and available to the general public NetBench is a portable benchmark program that measures how well a file server handles file I/O requests from 32-bit Windows clients, which pelt the server with requests for network file operations. One NetBench client generally stresses the server as much as many actual users do, so test suites with a relatively small number of clients can give a more realistic measure of a server s performance. The disk mix test scripts are based on profiles of leading applications for Windows-based PCs The NAS 300G results were obtained using a modification of the ent_dm_nb702.tst test suite which included additional test mixes for 64, 68, 72, 76, and 80 clients. The ent_dm_nb702.tst test suite is the enterprise version of the standard test suite. It uses the same script as the standard disk test, but does not include think time, so it puts more stress on the server. Testing of the 300G was done with the IBM NAS version 2.7 software. Testing of the 300G was done utilizing one accelerated Alacritech NIC per node. The onboard Broadcom Ethernet controllers were used for the heartbeat interface between the two nodes.
