Deferred Applications/Acceptance (acceptance rate generally higher for early applicants): These are applications that were received early but no determination has been made regarding acceptance (and will not be made until ALL applications are received by the university) While waiting to hear the decision, student should do the following in order to gain more favorable consideration: o Take the SAT/ACE once again and submit scores o Submit grades for the first half of your senior year NCSU 1 st Year College/Undecided/Undesignated Program: In 2012 there were 700 students accepted in this program Students are mentored and counseled on selecting a program or major Students are all housed centrally on campus in two co-ed dorms (Tucker and Owen) Students transition into designated college/major after 1 st year (business school is the hardest for students to transition to from this program due to high demand) High School students CANNOT apply for early college admission to this program Determining what program you want to major and admissions: The choice of program/major can determine acceptance due to differing acceptance rates within each college/program o If there are more seats in a particular college/major than there is demand, the more likely for acceptance, the more the demand, the less likely acceptance. Example: Biology vs. Environmental Technology (biology is the broader major and the environmental technology is the more specialized) WARNING This could also have limitations after college in terms of career options (the more specialized the major, the more narrow the scope of applicable careers).
