Write a Business Plan No matter how enthusiastic you are about your business.it will not be successful unless you have a plan for how it is going to be run

3 Write a Business Plan Break Even Analysis The first step in a business plan Experienced entrepreneurs will not even start a business plan until they are sure, from their break even analysis, that their predicted revenue is greater than their costs Write a Business Plan Break Even Analysis Overhead Includes your month to month expenses that are pretty constant, such as rent, insurance, utilities, etc Sales Revenue Total amount of sales Business you realistically expect, rather than how much revenue is needed to make a profit

4 Write a Business Plan Break Even Analysis Average Gross Profits The amount that is left over from each sale after deducting the direct costs. If you sell a system for $10,000 and your costs of goods sold (COGS) is $6,000 your average gross profit is $4,000 Average Gross Profit Margin The percentage of each dollar of sales that is gross profit The average gross profit / average sale price $4,000 / $10,000 = 0.4 or 40% Write a Business Plan Break Even Analysis Finding your break even point Divide your estimated overhead by your gross profit margin This is the amount of sales you need to break even Remember a break even analysis does not take into account your profit Example?

5 Write a Business Plan Profit & Loss Forecast Sales $10, Cost of sales (COGS) $5, Gross profit $5, Overhead $2, Net profit / loss $3, Rent Utilities Salary & wage Insurance Fuel Repair & maintenance Uniforms Use Your Own Money Fixed costs are the enemy
