In today s productivity-focused Radiology environment, 3D advanced visualization and image processing applications can no longer be performed separately from routine study reviews on PACS. Server Requirements AW Server 3 may be purchased as a turnkey solution that includes offthe-shelf, enterprise-class server hardware (supports concurrent processing of up to 30K images). Alternatively, AW Server 3 may be purchased for use with existing VMware installations to provide scalability for large enterprises that need concurrent processing of more than 30K images. Intended Use AW Server is a medical software system that allows multiple users to remotely access AW applications from compatible computers on a network. The system allows networking, selection, processing and filming of multimodality DICOM images. AW Server is not intended for diagnosis of mammography images. For other images, trained physicians may use the images as a basis for diagnosis upon ensuring that monitor quality, ambient light conditions and image compression ratios are consistent with clinical application. It provides a single source for MIP/MPR tools, vessel analysis and automatic bone removal, fusion and registration of multi-modality images and a dedicated oncology workflow. This feature provides quick access to 3D tools during routine study review, eliminating the need for users to log in to multiple applications and retrieve images for comparison from other systems. It improves both the radiologist s ability to complete the reading of exams quicker as well as the IT deployment s productivity by eliminating requests for DICOM resends and image transfers between systems. Allows you to save the exam to the PACS database in an intermediate post processing state at any time and then to restore it from the Universal Viewer, allowing multiple radiologists or technologists to contribute to post processing studies. Performance Performance and interactivity of AW Advanced Applications depends on the network bandwidth, latency and client workstation configuration. For optimal performance, a minimum network bandwidth of 40Mbps (LAN) with a latency of 20ms or lower is required. The server may also be used over WAN/Internet although performance will depend on round trip latency between the client workstation and the server. A minimum of 3 Mbps bandwidth per client with latency less than 35ms is recommended for reasonable performance when compression is used. To optimize performance, GE s Smart Compression technology applies a user-selectable level of compression to displayed images only while you interact with the images. Images are displayed automatically at full fidelity once user interaction stops. A clear visual display on the images indicates when compression is being applied. The device is not intended for diagnosis of lossy compressed images. The AW Server 3 supports the following compression levels: Lossless Lossy 15:1 (compression ratio is 15:1) Lossy 22:1 (compression ratio is 22:1) Lossy 33:1 (compression ratio is 33:1) Turn-Key Server Specifications The current turn-key server hardware specifications listed here are minimum server hardware capabilities. Specific server hardware is subject to change without prior notice. This turn-key server solution can support concurrent processing of up to a maximum of 30k images across all active instances of the Universal Viewer connected to the same server. Multiple virtual machine (VM) instances of the AW Server 3 may be configured in a cluster in your server farm, providing a scalable solution (i.e., up to 6 VM instances that each provide processing for 16k concurrent images). The cluster shares a single connection to the PACS database, and utilizes a userbalancing scheme to distribute new PACS users to AW Server 2-2

5 less-used nodes in the cluster. VM Host Requirements For the scalable solution, all VMs are required to run on the same type of host hardware to ensure equal computational power for all nodes in the cluster.
