Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (NKI) is a facility of the New York State Office of Mental Health that has earned a national and international reputation for its pioneering contributions in psychiatric research, especially in the areas of psychopharmacological treatments for schizophrenia and major mood disorders, and in the application of computer technology to mental health services. Since 1952, interdisciplinary teams of NKI scientists have applied their talents and expertise to study the etiology, treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation of severe and persistent mental illnesses. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research 140 Old Orangeburg Road Orangeburg, New York Telephone: (845) Fax : (845) The New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYPI) is a world-renowned research center which is in the forefront of basic clinical and psychiatric research, education, and treatment. At present, NYPI receives more support from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) that any other psychiatric research facility in the country. Although recipient care if provided at NYPI, the recipients in research inpatient and outpatient settings are participants in approved research protocols and no thirdparty reimbursement (Medicaid) is sought. New York State Psychiatric Institute 1051 Riverside Drive New York, NY Telephone: (212) Fax: (212) Forensic Services Serving Sentenced Individuals: The Central New York Psychiatric Center (CNYPC) provides treatment to persons incarcerated in the New York State and county correctional system. CNYPC consists of a 210 bed maximum security inpatient facility located in Marcy, NY. CNYPC is the only state facility where male and female patients may be involuntarily hospitalized pursuant to Section 402 of the NYS Corrections Law. The inpatient facility also includes the discrete Northeast Central Regional Forensic Unit which provides inpatient services for pre-trial detainees from 25 upstate county jails including evaluations for competency to stand trial and commitment under Section 508 of the NYS Corrections Law. CNYPC s outpatient component consists of a statewide network of mental health units located in designated NYS Department of Correctional Services (DOCS) facilities. There are a total of 23 outpatient clinics with 12 full Satellite Units providing a total of 154 crisis beds, 534 Intermediate Care Program beds, and clinic services to approximately 7,500 inmate/patients of the DOCS 70,000 inmate population.
