2 Around the corner. Around the state. The New York Bar Foundation is the charitable arm of the New York State Bar Association. Through the caring and sharing of lawyers, firms and others, The Foundation supports the law-related programs of local legal services agencies, nonprofits, bar associations and other organizations in numerous communities across New York State from Albany to Syracuse, Binghamton to Rochester and Buffalo, from Long Island and New York City to Plattsburgh. 4 Access to justice. Since 1950, support from The New York Bar Foundation has helped provide a more fullyrealized legal system by improving access to justice for under-served people in need across New York State. Numerous local beneficiary organizations receive grants to deliver programs that have direct, meaningful impact to organizations to support: Children Domestic Violence Survivors The Elderly Tenants and Homeowners Disabled Veterans Teachers, Students and Law Students

5 Grant making. In the past three years, The New York Bar Foundation has awarded over $3,000,000 in grants to 115 organizations throughout New York and the surrounding area to enable law-related activities for people in need. Applications for Foundation grants are reviewed by an experienced Grant Committee of TNYBF Board of Directors. 100 percent of the funds contributed are awarded to beneficiary organizations.

6 Your foundation. From pro bono work to volunteerism to financial generosity, no profession does so much to help so many. Contributing knowledge, time, funding and a passion for justice, together The New York Bar Foundation, the New York State Bar Association, sharing and caring attorneys and firms have done a lot. Together we can do much more. Supporting the New York Bar Foundation provides an opportunity to have a meaningful impact in our local communities and across the state.

Through the caring and sharing of lawyers, firms and others, The Foundation supports the law-related programs of local legal-services agencies, non-profits, bar associations and other organizations in numerous communities around the corner and around the state. The Foundation awards grants applying 100 percent of the funds contributed. The collective impact brings valuable access to justice for vulnerable people in need who might otherwise be unrepresented and for the support of legal education. The result is direct and meaningful support for: Children Domestic Violence Survivors The Elderly Tenants and Homeowners Disabled Veterans Teachers, Students and Law Students

9 Why? When attorneys participate in The Foundation s philanthropic programs, we all play a key role in ultimately having a significant impact on life in New York State. From pro bono work to volunteerism to financial generosity, no profession does so much to help so many.

10 Every gift matters. If all 77,000 New York State Bar members contributed just $25 to The Foundation annually, nearly $2 million would be available to expand legal community efforts to help many more people in need. Programs supported help: Detect or prevent elder abuse Secure effective civil representation and basic access to the courts for the poor Provide advice and counsel to homeowners facing foreclosure Deliver matrimonial and family law services to domestic violence survivors Award scholarships and fellowships to deserving law students

Nominated by peers and recognized for distinguished achievement, dedication to the legal profession, commitment to the organized bar and service to the public, Fellows of The New York Bar Foundation represent one percent of New York State attorneys. As Foundation ambassadors, they exemplify the spirit of caring and sharing by demonstrating their belief that the practice of law is a helping profession.
