1 CITIZENS CHARITABLE FOUNDATION Terms & Conditions Charitable Grants Funding Requirements Areas of Giving Interest Citizens gives priority consideration for charitable grants to programs that: Promote affordable housing. Encourage the development of innovative responses to basic human needs. Encourage community-based services targeted to low - and moderate-income families and individuals. Support community development initiatives that are catalysts for economically distressed areas. Promote new ways to address issues of economic self-sufficiency. Priority Considerations Funding priority is given to those projects which: Support community - based programs that directly relate to the business of banking. Positively impact low - and moderate-income populations. Are one year in duration. Directly affect the people served. Are multicultural. Show a high likelihood of success and potential to be replicated. Are focused on long-range solutions to broad-based urban issues, including community development or redevelopment activities. Assist in promoting financial education and credit-service information to the community. Funding Restrictions Citizens does not fund organizations which discriminate based on: Age Race Color Sex Religion National Origin Disability Family Status Receipt of Public Assistance Sexual Orientation
2 In addition, Citizens generally does not sponsor: Annual appeals Individuals Single disease/issue information and research organizations Religious organizations, including restoration of church buildings Labor, fraternal and veterans organizations (including fraternal orders of police/firefighters) Political organizations or projects Operating deficits Underwriting of conferences and seminars Governmental and quasi-governmental public agencies or organizations Endowment Annual operating support Trips and tours, including transportation costs Payment on bank loans (including loans from ) Advertising and fund-raising activities Foundations Historic preservation Public or private educational institutions Application Procedure has converted to an online funding request process. The new process makes applying for grants simpler and more convenient for organizations. If you would like to apply using our online application, please take the charitable grant eligibility quiz. Size of Average Grant Citizens' charitable grants range widely in size. Multiyear grants are generally for a capital campaign and are paid over a three-year period. Review Process It will take up to eight weeks for a grant request to be reviewed by the appropriate State Contributions Committee. A site visit and additional information may be required prior to a final determination. You will be notified of a grant approval or denial by letter. Application Procedure for Charitable Grants Each request for charitable grants should be submitted via our online application. 4 Corporate Sponsorships and Community Activities Sponsorships are payments paid to any for-profit or not-for-profit organization for which Citizens will receive promotional, entertainment and community relations value. As a sponsor of an event, Citizens expects to achieve the following goals: 1. Enhance the bank's visibility in the community. 2. Help position as a leader in the corporate community. 3. Entertain existing customers. 4. Introduce bank personnel to potential new customers. 5. Raise money for the benefit of nonprofits in the neighborhoods we serve. Areas of Sponsorship Interest Citizens considers sponsorships from a wide range of organizations and encourages creativity and innovation to develop partnerships that are of mutual benefit to community organizations and the bank. Citizens seeks sponsorships that bring value to Citizens customers and employees. If a Citizens employee or customer is involved with the event, it should be noted on the proposal. A cover letter summarizing the key points of the event and the amount of the request. Organizational contact name, address, and telephone number should be clearly identified. 2. A brief description of the organization, its mission and goals. 3. A list of the members of the organization's board of directors and a brief description of the event, its goals and objectives, and the benefits to Citizens as a sponsor. 4.
