This has been an important problem in secondary use of health care data for research. Over the past decade, several initiatives have created large health care research and analytic infrastructures that must be sustained after an initial investment. In this presentation, I will present lessons learned from a recent journal issue that I edited focused on sustainability. Using examples from a recent issue on Sustaining the Effective Use of Health Care Data, we review important patterns and lessons learned for sustaining research and analytic health infrastructures. 1. There are various strategies for sustainability of an analytic health infrastructure 2. Understanding factors of sustainability is important to understanding strategies 3. Early examples give important patterns about successful sustainability.
2 09:45 10:25 Session 2 Innovation Workshop - sponsor Reliable Distributed Combined Heat and Power for Hospital Facilities Leader: Marc Rouse, Regional Sales Manager, North America, Capstone Turbine Corporation Healthcare facilities are ideal settings for cogeneration (combined heat and power or CHP) and trigeneration (combined cooling, heating and power or CCHP) systems. These systems provide electrical and thermal energy in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible while delivering both power, reliability, and environmental benefits. Capstone Turbine is the world s leading manufacturer of microturbine energy systems. Capstone microturbines have only one moving part, have no oil or lubrication, operate on air bearings, and are exceptionally quiet with very low air emissions. Capstone microturbines are the technology of choice for dozens of hospitals across the world. Find out how microturbine CHP and CCHP can provide clean and reliable power with significant cost savings to your hospital. 1. What benefits CHP and CCHP can provide to hospitals 2. How a microturbine operates, what are the applications, and what products are available. 3. Capstone Turbine s track record in meeting the needs of hospital applications with case study examples. 10:30 11:10 Session 3 Industry Challenges Workshop - delegate Title Digital Disruption In Healthcare Leader: David Chou CIO, University of Mississippi Medical Center Synopsis CIOs today are playing a major role and the job requirement has changed dramatically especially as we move towards an era of digital technologies. The decision process for moving forward to effectively manage enterprise imaging is complex. For a complete solution that will preserve your current systems investments, minimize risk and administrative overhead, address your BYOD dilemma, and use your clinical best practices, you need image/multimedia management and specialty-specific workflow services in a unified solution. This workshop will demonstrate a proven approach to sorting through this challenge. You will hear about a successful selection and implementation methodology used by a nationally recognized hospital system. In this workshop you will learn
3 about: defining the problem and determining the solution s selection criteria, including costeffectiveness; how to rally support from other enterprise stakeholders; and real life lessons learned at multiple healthcare organizations about installing a clinically proven, commercialoff-the-shelf solution to deal with all this data. Enterprise imaging solutions do not always mean choosing between VNA, PACS, or departmental clinical multimedia solutions. The goal of this session is to help you learn to assess and solve your enterprise imaging needs :00 12:45 Session 5 Workshop - delegate Title Meaningful Use, what does 2015 look like? 12:50 13:50 Lunch 13: Session 6 Case Study - sponsor Leader: Lynn Witherspoon, M.D., Chief Medical Information Officer, Ochsner Health System 1.
